On April 17th I will be donning my trademark bow, lacing up my carbon fiber shoes, and hitting the streets with my eyes set on making it to Boylston Street. Newly out of “retirement” I am beyond excited to announce that I will be running in the 127th Boston Marathon and supporting the Wellesley ...

Attention Parents of Seniors and College Students!
Are you the parent of a high school senior or a college student?! Remind your student to apply for a scholarship from the Wellesley Scholarship Foundation before March 1.
The Wellesley Scholarship Foundation awards two different types of scholarship funding each year:
● Need-Based Scholarships: Any Wellesley High School graduate (regardless of residence) and any Wellesley resident (regardless of school) are eligible to apply for our need-based scholarships. If demonstrated financial need exists, students are eligible to receive award funding for four years of college but MUST reapply annually and maintain a cumulative 2.0 grade point average.
● Merit-Based Scholarships: Applicants must be high school seniors that are Wellesley residents (one male/one female) that have demonstrated a superior level of distinction in scholarship, citizenship and character, as well as strong extracurricular interests and activities. These two merit awards are renewable annually for four years provided the recipient maintains acceptable academic performance (certified with yearly college transcript) and maintains their Wellesley residency.WSF will fund students attending four-year degree programs, as well as two-year college or technical schools if the student is working towards a degree or certificate. Last year, WSF scholarship awards ranged anywhere from $500 to $15,000 with a median award of $4,000.Next Steps:
● All applications (need-based and merit-based scholarships) are due by March 1, 2023.
● Need-Based Scholarships:
Applicants must complete the WSF Common Application.
Applicants must supply all required supplemental materials: CSS Profile (MUST be submittedthrough the College Board), parent(s) tax returns and financial aid letter from the school the student will be attending. Please familiarize yourself with the timeline for our need-based scholarship process.
● Merit-Based Scholarships:
1. Applicants must complete the WSF Merit Application.
Award decisions are typically communicated to applicants by the middle of May. All application materials submitted are kept in the strictest confidence. For any additional questions you might have, we encourage you to consult our Frequently Asked Questions.
Sincerely,
Wellesley Scholarship Foundation

This summer, the Wellesley Scholarship Foundation (WSF) lost one of its great driving forces and very best friends. Sarah Pedersen was not only a WSF Board Member for 12 years, but during that time led remarkable change and growth. As anyone who spent 5 minutes with Sarah sensed, she possessed superhuman qualities of energy, optimism, and altruism.

We are blessed that her passion and legacy involved ensuring that every Wellesley high school graduate who wanted to further their education would have the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial means.

To honor Sarah and continue our shared commitment to the students of the town of Wellesley, the Board of WSF and Pedersen family would like your support to establish a permanent needs-based scholarship in Sarah's name. Your contribution toward our goal of raising $50,000 to create the Sarah Pedersen Memorial Scholarship will be deeply appreciated and help support recipients to serve the world and the people of their communities, just as Sarah did.

You can honor Sarah by donating in her name here- https://www.wellesleyscholarshipfoundation.org/copy-of-donate

More about Sarah, “The love and happiness that Sarah spread in her 64 years was boundless, and all who knew her will cherish her warmth and friendship forever...”

"Sarah spent nearly all of her life thinking and caring for others, and she will be in the hearts and minds of all those close to her. Most of all Sarah will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, spouse, aunt and friends as she spread her infectious optimism among all those she encountered…”

"Sarah's immense kindness, optimism and joy inspired others to be the best
versions of themselves. We are better for having had her in our lives.”
