NC recognizes the impact of home visiting programs in the state. Thank you to HCC for recognizing the difference the Nurse-Family Partnership home visiting program makes with families in NE NC.
Dear Friends,
I write to acknowledge April 20-24, 2026, as Home Visiting Week. This day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating home visitors for the positive impact they make on maternal and child health outcomes. Early childhood is the most active period for the developing brain, and a stable, secure relationship with a
nurturing, caring adult is a key factor in the development of young children. North Carolina has a network of evidence-based home visiting programs that serve families across urban, rural, and tribal communities, helping parents navigate pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood with confidence and care. Home visitors and family support professionals play a critical role by building trusting relationships with families, connecting them with community resources, and supporting parents during pivotal moments in their
children’s development. Home visiting programs are strengthened through collaboration among state and local agencies, community-based organizations, institutions of higher education, early childhood and public education systems, health systems, and families themselves.
This April 20-24, I encourage all North Carolinians to join me in recognizing Home Visiting Week. May we take this opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the home visiting resources that support the health and well-being of our children and families.
Sincerely,
Josh Stein
Governor
