For those who get on the Lions page, we will be decorating the float at Lion Carmello’s garage. If you are coming to help you are welcome. I have a limited amount of room in the garage. We are planning to get pizza to satisfy the hunger of our workers, might even offer drinks too.
If you don’t know where to come the GPS is 191 Ream Rd., Gary.
Bring a staple gun if you have one. And if you are coming to eyeball, bring a chair.

Our local club and the whole county suffered a massive loss recently. Reverend Bill Spencer left for his eternal life with the Lord.
He was so loved by all who were acquainted with him. A loving family man, preacher, teacher, fellow Lion, Kiwanian, golfer, landlord, councilman; you could not help but like him. He loved bowling and playing poker as much as anyone I have known. His story telling was exceptional, if it was true or not, would hold your attention.
His Celebration of Life will be held this coming Friday, at his church where he pastored for many years, Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church, 204 Park St., Bluefield,WV. 11:00. Visitors may call at 9:30 AM. Gregory-Page Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.

Good morning everyone, just wanted to say Happy New Year to all our friends out there. If you are 18 and over and looking for something to do, consider joining our local Lions club. We are a service organization that works for people who are in need of glasses. We do activities that are fund raising and then we try and support the people who are in need of sight related illnesses. We have several things that we do for the community! Stop by on Wednesday evening at the Sterling Drive In and pick up an application. We may be just the thing to satisfy your desire to help others.

Well I guess it’s time I let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. A month ago on my way to taking our German Shepherd out for a run I tripped over my feet and fell backwards on my head. I found out the next day that I had fractured my second vertebrae in my neck. I was sent to CAMC to a Neouro surgeon for evaluation. The two vertebrae at the base of the skull are very difficult to do surgery on, so I was sent home with a neck brace that I had to wear 24/7 could not lift more than 5 pounds and no driving until after 4 weeks when I returned to get a new X-ray to compare the progress.
Today was that day. Well I good news is that it is still in alignment and has has moved closer together, bad news is it isn’t fusing yet (which they new was very possible). I am to continue wearing my necklace another two months and hopefully by then it will have scarred over and attached.
Still not recommended to drive and have to let it rest with little movement. I can remove the brace once a week and shave and shower, but that’s about the extent of my pleasure for now.
Sherry has been very good at driving us to appointments and shopping. She has even taken me to Lions meetings and poker nights with my friends.
I am not in pain, I have no neurological problems and thank my Lord and savior for that. I still cantor at church and am ambulating very well. I hope to shoot par golf after this hiatus but that’s not practical. Pray for my quick recovery and I shall keep you updated,
Big C.
