The Weirton Termite Basketball League, will host a pizza party on Saturday, February 24, 2024. We invite all of those who have ever participated in the Basketball League, to come and celebrate with us for the final day as the official Weirton Termite Basketball League.
This league has had an impact on thousands of people, through the years and this Saturday will be our final hurrah. The Weirton Termite Basketball League started in 1954, two years after the beginning of the Termite Baseball League which started in 1952.
If you have ever participated in the league as a player, coach, referee, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or fan, please stop down for our Free pizza party to be held at 10:30 am at the Weirton Community Center’s Rose Room. All are invited and welcome to attend.
This venture comes to a close with mixed emotions. The people that help put this league together for the youth of Weirton are to be commended for their years of hard work and dedication. The organization has taught hundreds of youth not only learn the game of basketball but also taught teamwork, respect for themselves and each other. We intend for the Termite name to stay active, by participating in different activities for the youth and people of our community and plan to continue on with the scholarship program.
