The Oakridge Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD) was formed in 2009 and began service in October 2010. OVFD provides fire and First Responder emergency medical services to nearly 200 residents of the Oakridge Ranch subdivision (a 4,400 acre area located off CR215 between Weimar and Columbus, TX) and its surrounding area. OVFD provides mutual aid to all of the other fire departments in Colorado Cou
nty and the surrounding counties when called upon. OVFD Station 10 is located at the Oakridge Ranch Community Center, at 1904-A Oakridge Road, Weimar, TX 78962. We are an all-volunteer force that currently consists of about 17 firefighters including medical first responders. OVFD runs a 1,500 gallon pumper, a tanker with a 1,500 gallon capacity, another tanker with a 600 gallon capacity, one 300 gallon 4-wheel drive brush truck, a 1 ton rescue/command truck, and an UTV for wildland fire and remote EMS support. The department's members have training in all aspects related to brush and structural fires, fire safety, NIMS (National Incident Management Systems), and have continually honed their skills throughout the years by attending many training classes offered by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Brayton Fire Training Field, Colorado County Training Center at El Campo and many other sources. Members attend periodic drills to remain up-to-date on all the necessary skills of a firefighter and to keep equipment in top running condition. Many OVFD members are certified First Responders with CPR training. This training enables OVFD to respond to an injury or medical emergency and assist Colorado County EMS. Thank you for your interest in the department and for visiting our page. We welcome Oakridge Ranch and its neighboring residents to join as members of the department, and to support our goals. We need people of all backgrounds. We provide the necessary training. All you need is a desire to serve your community. We also have an Auxiliary (both men & women) that supports the firefighters in many aspects including support during extended fire events and assisting the fire department with fundraising. If you feel you can’t fight fires, you can always be an OVFD Auxiliary member!
