Young Life here in Union County is currently in 4 UC high schools - Cuthbertson, Marvin Ridge, Union Academy and Weddington. Our hope is to reach all 13 schools in the county in the next 5-10 years. Everyone is welcome in Young Life! It started with a few simple ideas about sharing the truth of God's love with adolescents. Many decades later those simple ideas are still being used for reaching out
to high school kids. Below is a brief description of those methods. Caring for Kids-Contact Work:
Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go where they are, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don't form overnight -- they take time, patience, trust, and consistency. Volunteer leaders and Young Life staff build relationships with teenagers by showing up in their lives. You can find them in the stands at games, the parking lot after school, Chick-fil-A before school, and any other place high school students spend their time. A Party with a Purpose - Club:
Every Monday night, tons of high school kids pile into a friend's house for what we like to call "a party with a purpose." Young Life Club is a night filled with singing, laughing, and playing -- an environment of controlled chaos that is almost impossible to describe. Before the party ends, the craziness settles down, and kids have the chance to hear one of their Young Life leaders, a person they know and trust, share a simple message of God's amazing, life-changing love. A Time to Question, Learn, and Grow - Campaigners:
Campaigners is a place designed for kids who want to know more about Jesus so they can ask questions or grow in their faith. Each week we take a deeper look into the Bible and what it means to follow Christ as a high school student. We teach kids about different Spiritual disciplines and help them make their faith their own so they can participate in the kingdom of God long after high school. The Best Week of Their Lives - Camp:
For a weekend in the fall and a week in the summer, kids have the chance to escape their everyday routine and experience adventure, laughter, and relationships while hearing the greatest love story every told. Kids consistently tell us that Young Life camp is the best week/weekend of their lives! Adults Who Care - Committee:
Young Life is making a difference in the lives of kids because we are supported by adults who care for teenagers in the community and long for them to hear about Jesus. This team of dedicated volunteers provides a foundation of prayer, financial, administrative, and moral support.
