Honor and Remember - New York Chapter

Honor and Remember - New York Chapter Mission: To recognize the sacrifice of America’s military fallen service members and their families. The Honor and Remember Flag was created for that purpose.

Mission: To perpetually recognize the sacrifice of New York’s military fallen service members and their families. The organization pays tribute to all military lives lost, not only while serving on active duty but also as a result of serving. Military deaths in all wars or conflicts and all branches of service from our nation’s inception are recognized. The primary vehicle for perpetual recognitio

n is a specific and dedicated symbol of remembrance created by this organization: the Honor and Remember Flag, which is intended to fly continuously as a tangible and visible reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national freedoms. Rationale: In our over 200 year history there has never been an official national symbol that solely and specifically recognizes in gratitude and respect the ultimate sacrifice made by members of the United States military in service to our nation. Goals: In keeping with our mission and primary goals, we continue to significantly impact this nation with the message of perpetually recognizing our military fallen heroes and their families. Our objectives can be summarized in four words, establish, educate, present and comfort. To Establish the Honor and Remember Flag as our national symbol of remembrance; encouraging adoption by Congress, individual states and throughout all communities in America. To build a consensus among the branches of the United States military, veterans organizations, service and civic groups, businesses and individuals in order to collectively solicit the Department of Defense and the United States Congress to propose and accept the Honor and Remember Flag as the official flag for honoring all fallen servicemen and servicewomen. To Educate our nation on the meaning and importance of this remembrance Flag and the impact of its existence on Gold Star families. It is the hope of this organization to ultimately change mindsets and bring needed recognition and appreciation for those who paid the price for our liberty. Additionally to promote broad national awareness of and groundswell interest so that military, government and educational facilities as well as corporations and individual households would begin flying the Honor and Remember Flag as a clear statement of thanks in recognition of our nation's fallen warriors and their families. To Present one personalized Honor and Remember Flag in the hands of immediate families who have lost a loved one in military service to America, while serving or as a result of serving, regardless of generation. To build with each Gold Star family an ongoing and significant relationship of Comfort, developing and organizing annual and continuous programs that reinforce a positive message of remembrance. Through viable partnerships that foster an atmosphere of healthy communication, healing and comfort we are able bring together and recognize other wounded families, building a stronger sense of community among all families who have given so much to America.

Honoring CPL Benjamin D. Osborn

On Tuesday, November 11, our Gold Star Family Coordinator, Amanda Collins, had the honor of presenting a personalized Honor and Remember Flag to the family of CPL Benjamin D. Osborn at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

United States Army
KIA: June 15, 2010 — Konar Province, Afghanistan

Corporal Benjamin D. Osborn, age 27, was a proud and dedicated soldier of the United States Army who made the ultimate sacrifice on June 15, 2010, while serving his country in Konar Province, Afghanistan.

Born on January 21, 1983, in Saratoga Springs, New York, Ben grew up in Queensbury, NY, where he was known for his warm smile, kindness, and deep sense of loyalty to friends and family. A 2001 graduate of Lake George High School, he excelled in athletics and leadership, always showing the quiet determination that would later define his military service.

Benjamin enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2007, answering a calling to serve his nation with courage and purpose. He was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

While deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, CPL Osborn’s unit engaged in combat operations in a volatile region near the Pakistan border. During a fierce firefight on June 15, 2010, he demonstrated extraordinary bravery and selflessness—actions that embodied the finest traditions of the U.S. Army and his own unwavering devotion to his brothers in arms.

For his heroism and sacrifice, CPL Benjamin D. Osborn was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.

Ben is remembered not only as a courageous soldier but as a son, brother, and friend whose light continues to shine through all who knew him. His legacy of honor, kindness, and dedication lives on through the Cpl. Benjamin D. Osborn Memorial Fund, which supports local youth and community programs in his name.

We will continue to say Benjamin’s name, and we will never forget his service, his sacrifice, or the light he brought to those around him.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible New York Run for the Fallen volunteers, Alisha and her amazing team: Donavan, Mike, and Miranda, for all of their hard work (and amazing culinary skills) during the 2025 Peak to Brew Relay relay race! 🙌💙

Their delicious dinner and breakfast fundraiser at the halfway point was out of this world—and thanks to their efforts (and runner support), they raised over $1,600! That’s enough to sponsor three Honor and Remember flags for fallen heroes.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for feeding our bodies and fueling our mission. You’re making a real difference.

We love our Peak to Brew Relay family.
