4 Walls Project / Proyecto 4 Paredes Building safe, sturdy homes in El Sauce, Nicaragua since 2007 Local materials are used. Se usan materiales locales.

How it works: A local committee in El Sauce receives applications from families soliciting help to improve their homes. Applicants are screened and must meet certain criteria such as ownership of the land, income level, and a commitment to help with the work. Local masons are hired by the project and lead the construction, with help from local labor and volunteers if a volunteer trip is scheduled

Un comité local en El Sauce recibe aplicaciones de familias solicitando ayuda para mejorar sus casas. El comité revisa las aplicaciones para asegurar que cada familia llene ciertos requisitos como ser dueños de la propiedad, nivel de ingresos y compromiso de ayudar con el trabajo. Se contratan albañiles locales para guiar la construcción de las casas con ayuda de la familia y voluntarios cuando están presentes.
