Update: we apologize for the inconvenience, but we have extended our open hours closure until Saturday 10/24. This is to make sure that the kitties who have come down with upper respiratory infections have time to recover and to avoid sharing with any other kitties. We still are open for our volunteers to care for the kitties, so please don’t worry about them getting fed and cleaned each and every day. In the meantime, please see the attached pictures and check our website to see our available cats on Petfinder and to apply to adopt to be ready when we reopen!

Good news last week though, Lily went home! Her adopter was interested in her spotlight post and it turned out to be a purrfect match! We wish them a long and happy life together; keep an eye out for a forever Friday post soon. 🐈

Don’t forget we are still participating in the Bemis Farms Scarecrow-in-a-Pot fundraiser! Next weekend is the last weekend this event is happening, and today is looking like an EXCELLENT day to head down and enjoy the fall festivities! You support small businesses, help the CCC kitties, and get a super cute decoration to enjoy all season!

Take a look at the photos to see some of the cool stuff Bemis Farm has to offer, and the first picture is an example of the scarecrow you can build yourself. We hope to see you there!

Happy Forever Friday! This week we have a special story of this sweet senior pair of kitties this year. Lance and Charlie came to us as a super closely bonded pair - Lance was always outgoing, friendly, and more bold, and Charlie was much more reserved, shy, and would look to Lance for assurance. They were with us for a few months waiting for the right home, and it turned out to be with one of our wonderful volunteers and supporters! Please read below for the sweet update on these lovely kitties:

“Thank you for letting me adopt these two lovebugs. Lance is the biggest sweetheart. Always looking for attention and purrs. I love to snuggle with him in the chair or on the bed. Charlie is a little more on the shy side but she is making a lot of improvement and actually slept on my lap last week. They love each other and are always snuggling together. They are loving all the space they have now with lots of sleeping and roaming areas. 😊”

Thank you for adopting these sweeties and for the update! We’re so glad they’ve settled in well and are happy in their forever home. 🐈 ❤️

Adoption spotlight: Luxurious London!

London has been with us for a long time, 291 days to be exact, since December of last year. She came to us as a stray mama cat with a few kittens who found homes quickly, but she is still waiting for her forever home. In this time, she has warmed up to us but is still shy and nervous, so she would do best in a cat-experienced home that has familiarity with undersocialized cats. We think she would do well with a home with only older children or adults, and we think she would do fine with another friendly cat, but we don’t know about how she would do with dogs.

Reach out if you think London may be a good fit for your family! We are not currently holding open hours this week but the kitties have been well taken care of by our wonderful volunteers in the meantime. Stay tuned for our anticipated re-opening date!

Thank you to the fabulous organizers of the Pet Rock Festival for yet another successful event yesterday 10/4! It is such a pleasure being around so many like-minded people, who love animals and want to protect and cherish them! Us cat people petted an awful lot of pups and a kitty or two. We even got to know the turtles from the next tent over! Thank you to anyone who stopped by our table to chat, make a purchase or leave a donation. And thank you to Starwood Pet Resort for once again collecting donations for us! We appreciate you all!

Notice: we are unfortunately closed to visitors for open hours this week, due to illness in the adoption room. Some of our cats have upper respiratory infections (URIs) and we are trying to control any additional spread. They are being treated, but we don’t want to risk any other cats getting sick. Our volunteers will still be taking care of the cats but with added precautions, handwashing, etc. We will be open again next week for open hours on Wednesday, or later, but we will keep you posted.

We appreciate your understanding!

Happy Monday!! This week we have several new kitties for you but many of them do not have photos on file. We also had Tinkerbell & Tiger Lily go home together, and Henrietta and Paprika also went home. Excitingly, Lily is on deposit!

New cats are Lumi, Remi, Winnie, and Toby, and kittens are Goose, Fawn, Puma, Venus, Fluffy, Moo, and Little Boo. Thistle is back with us and ready to find her forever home, and River is available again.

New cats Remi, Winnie, and Toby are rather shy and scared, but are friendly; they came to us as surrenders to not fault of their own. Kittens Little Boo and Moo are also scared and came to us from another local shelter. The other available kittens are typical kittens, and as always, we really prefer kittens to be adopted in pairs or to homes with another young cat or dog with whom they can play. This is beneficial for everyone, as you save two lives instead of one, you get to watch two kittens grow up together, and they keep each other occupied and busy!

As always, come down to meet all our wonderful adoptable kitties during open hours each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4-7 and Saturdays from 10-1! The kitties are waiting for you!!

Happy Forever Friday! This week we have an update from a recently adopted kitty, Coconut! She has settled in well and has charmed her new family, as she charmed all of us who met her at the CCC. There are a few videos and I will attach them in the comments. Read below for the update on beautiful Miss Coconut:

“When I adopted Miss Coconut you'd asked for updates, and I'm writing this morning to say she's settled in wonderfully. She's explored all over my house and has enjoyed the toys I've given her. She plays regularly and zooms around my house frequently. She's become so affectionate with me, booping my hand and demanding pets all the time. She's even recently gotten comfortable enough with me to jump in my lap and demand my hands to smash her little noggin against. She has been an absolute blessing in my life. Everyone says I light up when I talk about her and they love the pictures and videos I send of her. I cannot thank you all enough for rescuing this little lady and bringing her into my life. Thank you all so much”

Thank you for the update and for adopting this special little lady!

Update: he is home! He was injured but is home safe and healing now.

Missing cat! Even though it isn’t super close by, please keep an eye out for Giovanni, who is missing from his home in Palmer, Massachusetts. He went missing on Sept 26th and his family reached out to us to share his info. The missing poster is the first photo, and the other photos are of him with his beloved kitty siblings. His family misses him terribly so please let us know if you see him!
