FRC Team 1126 - SparX

FRC Team 1126 - SparX Xerox Corporation and Webster High Schools FIRST Robotics Team, 1126 - AKA SparX!! The SparX Team was founded in 2003, in Webster, New York.

Made up of students from both Webster Thomas and Webster Schroeder High School, this team is currently 44 students strong! Our main sponsors are the Xerox Corporation, and the Webster Central School District. However, we are also sponsored by several local businesses, including Accede Molding, Xceed Financial, Peter Parts, and several more that wouldn't all fit in this tiny box! We thank them for their support, for we can not do what we do without them.

While the makeup of our team was much smaller this season, these students and our mentors worked super hard to compete in the at home competitions for the 2021 FRC season!
Their hard work paid off and won the Industrial Design Award!! So proud of this team and the perseverance you continue to show through it all!

Our next senior spotlight is Skyler F. He was a 4 year student who learned many skills by bring a part of the team's software and mechanical sub teams. Skyler is off to RIT in the fall for Cyber Security! He has some great advice for our underclassmen and future SparX members; "Make sure to keep learning and don't be afraid to switch subteams to try something new out" Skyler we wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors! You will be missed!

Next up on our spotlight is Andrew D, another 4 year committed, hardworking senior! Andrew worked on our team's electrical and strategy subteams during his time on SparX. He is off to Clarkson University in the fall for Electrical Engineering! Andrew was always found working hard, staying focused, and would be ready to work at mandatory and voluntary meetings alike. The most important thing he learned was to advocate for himself which is such a great lesson to learn. His advice is to get as involved as possible because you will have a lot more fun and get more out of this experience! Such sound advice Andrew! You will be missed but know you will do great things in your future!

Next up on our senior spotlight is Gio M. another 4 year student!! Gio was on our mechanical and field sub teams! He is off to study Mechanical Engineering technology at SUNY Polytechnic Institute! He has some great advice for future and underclassmen;
Teamwork and hard work pays off. The 100s of hours you will spend at school working is worth it in the end, even if you don’t get to use the robot.
Just listen and learn how to do things the right way. Measure twice, cut once. It’s better do do things slow and correct, than to do things fast and mess them up. Gio you will be missed but we wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Next up on our senior spotlight is Helena R. She is a 3 year veteran that was on our mechanical sub teams. Helena worked so incredibly hard during her time on SparX! She came to as many voluntary meetings as she could between HYSO and ski club with a smile on her face and determination to get things done! She is off to Norwich University in the fall to study, Mechanical Engineering! Helena's piece of advice for underclassmen and future members on SparX is to learn the importance of communication and teamwork and to enjoy every minute of your time on the team! We wish you good luck in your future endeavors Helena!

Next up on our senior spotlight is a 3 year student, JD. JD was on our mechanical sub teams for his first two years and finished his senior year in the marketing sub team where he really flourished! JD is off to Alfred State in the fall to major in digital media and animation and his hopes and dreams are to become a film editor! With all the projects that JD made this season for the team, we know he will be a great editor one day!! JD's advice to fellow and future SparX members is to "work your hardest and don't let someone's opinion bring you down!" When great advice thanks JD! We will miss you and your talents (see last photo for the amazing poster he made for our senior class this year), good luck bud!

(repost I missed a senior!) CONGRATULATIONS to our SparX 2020 seniors from both Webster Thomas & Webster Schroeder high schools! We had about 15-20 cars in our parade filled with mentors, team members, parents, and seniors that hopped along! What a blast to surprise and give our seniors their signs! There were a couple hiccups but what's a robotics event without some mishaps haha! We wish you all the best as you head off to college and start the next chapter! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT AND HAD MADE THIS SO FUN!
