Transitioning military experience onto a civilian resume isn’t always as simple as listing where you served and what you did.

You led people. Solved problems. Worked under pressure. Managed responsibility. Adapted when plans changed. Learned skills that employers need.

Sometimes the hardest part is knowing how to put all of that on paper in a way a civilian employer understands.

Charlie 22 Outdoors, in partnership with the Jobs for Veterans State Grant, is hosting a Veterans Resume Workshop designed specifically to help with that.

During the workshop, Veterans will receive help creating a strong, standout resume, translating military experience into civilian skills, and preparing for future employment opportunities.

🎯 SEPTEMBER IS HERE AND STARTS NOW!

Charlie 22 Outdoors is honored to be one of the 2026 grant recipients, and throughout September, something you may already be doing can help make an impact for Veterans and their families.

The goal is BIG:

10 MILLION training shots during the month of September.

Every shot logged moves the campaign closer to that goal, with sponsors contributing toward grants for participating organizations like Charlie 22 Outdoors.

And those grants turn into something very real.

They help us create opportunities for Veterans.
They help us bring Veterans and spouses together.
They help us continue serving people who once raised their hand and chose to serve all of us.

So this month, we need our Charlie 22 community.

If you train make it count.

Log your training throughout September and help us spread the word. Then challenge your friends, training partners, clubs and communities to join you.

One person logging a training session may feel small.

But get enough people doing it across the country?

That’s how 10 million happens. And that’s how a simple training session becomes part of something much bigger.

September 2 Devotion

In this day and age where, whenever you turn on the news, it seems like we are just being force-fed negativity. We are being force-fed division. We are being force-fed things that are evil and ugly. I know that is what grabs attentions. But I’m tired of seeing it. So much to the point that I don’t watch the national news much anymore. But recently, ESPN shared a story that was different. It is one that should inspire us all. Because it is one of truly serving somebody else. Giving up something for the good of somebody else.

Chris Creighton is the head coach for Eastern Michigan University‘s football team. One of his players was Zack Conti. When Zack was a senior offensive lineman on the football team, he had been a walk-on his entire career at the school. During which he had played 23 games in the last two seasons. At the beginning of his final year, he was going to be starting. Going into the camp, he was still considered a walk-on. For those of you that don’t know what that means, he was playing without a scholarship. He was working different jobs to raise the money to go to school. Because he loved football that much. Brian Dooley was also a senior on the football team. He is from Bowling Green, Ohio. Which means he is out of state. And as you will see in a minute, this is an important part of the story. Prior to a team meeting, he went to the head coach and told him he was going to give up his scholarship in order for Zack to have one. Yes, you read that correctly. He gave his scholarship up so his teammate could have one. Now…that might not seem like a big deal. But it is. Especially for this reason: Brian had to take out a $25,000 student loan to go to school his last year. Because, that is what out-of-state tuition cost. Would you have done that?

We’ve been talking a lot about serving others. We’ve been talking a lot about the Holy Spirit taking control. We’ve been talking about our Lord and Savior loving us so much that he sacrificed himself for us. So today, let’s all learn from Brian. Let’s all learn about truly giving what you have to serve others. I’m not saying you must go out and give up your scholarship. I’m not saying you must go out and give out money you don’t have. What I’m saying is, let’s find ways to give of ourselves, to serve others. Just as Brian did. Just as Jesus did. Just as Jesus still does today.

🇺🇸 HUNTERS HELPING HEROES IS BACK
AND THIS YEAR, WE WANT TO TAKE IT NATIONWIDE.

Last year, something pretty incredible happened.

What started as a way to connect harvested deer with Veterans who could use the meat began spreading.

Across the Midwest.
As far north as Montana.
As far south as Alabama and Georgia.

Hunters stepped up. Processors stepped up. Communities stepped up.

And Veterans were fed.

This year, we want to see how far we can take it.

The goal of Hunters Helping Heroes is simple: connect hunters willing to donate harvested deer with Veterans and Veteran families who could use quality meat in their freezer.

And you don't have to live anywhere near Charlie 22 Outdoors to participate.

🇺🇸 HUNTERS HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Start by contacting processors in your area. Ask if they would like to participate in Hunters Helping Heroes and whether they would be willing to donate or discount processing.

Processing is kept simple...burger, steaks and roasts.

Then help us locate a Veteran in your area who could use the meat.

The hunter is responsible for getting the deer to the processor and helping coordinate getting the finished meat from the processor to the Veteran.

Charlie 22 Outdoors may be able to cover the processing cost. You MUST contact us before processing to verify that funds are still available.

If putting meat in the freezer would help you or your family, please reach out.

And if you know a Veteran who could use some help, you can contact us on their behalf.

We will do everything we can to locate participating hunters in their area and make a connection.

This doesn't have to stop at Missouri.

Saturday, September 12, we’ll be at Mining Days Festival at King Jack Park in Webb City—and this is a BIG day for Charlie 22 Outdoors!

September 1 Devotion

If you asked me what my most prized possession would be, I’d have a difficult time with the answer. Would it be my home? Or maybe my truck? Or something else? I’m not sure. Obviously, I put my family above everything. But I don’t consider them my possessions. So it really is an interesting question. Let’s think about that. What is your most prized possession? A gift someone gave you? Or a piece of jewelry? Or maybe your money? The things we spend our money on are significant to us. I don’t think we would spend our own money on something that wasn’t important to us.

In the Bible, we read of the woman who poured perfume on Jesus‘s feet. Not just any perfume. It was an expensive bottle of perfume. The woman was known as a sinner. And the people criticized Jesus, for allowing her to approach him. It was easy for everyone to point fingers. Just as it is today. I think it’s easy, because it makes us feel better about ourselves. Pretty selfish. Anyways, Jesus responded by telling them a story. Demonstrating why the woman did what she did. Then he forgave her. Witnessing that must’ve been a very powerful moment for everyone there.

Now here’s the point of this devotion. No matter what it is that we value as our most treasured possession, nothing can compare to encountering Jesus. Nothing! Just as the woman in the Bible. She was willing to sacrifice one of her most important and valuable possessions. We should be willing to do the same thing. I’m not saying we need to discard or throw away what it is that we own. I’m not saying we must give everything away. What I’m saying is this: Being humble with what we have is the key. Humility is the point. And there’s one more very important point here. We should acknowledge that Jesus is far more important than anything that we possess. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. He’s always more important. So let’s try to encounter Jesus in all we do.
