1949 - Baba begging in the New Life carrying a satchel and brass pot and accompanied by Adi K. Irani with Gustadji following in Benares, India.

On 16 October 1949, Meher Baba dissociated himself from the places, possessions, and connections that he had maintained until that time and embarked on what he called a “New Life” of complete helplessness and hopelessness in total reliance of God. During the next three years he appears to have voluntarily given up his state of Perfect Master in order to embrace the role of Perfect Seeker. This phase culminated in early 1952 with what he called “Manonash” or “annihilation of the mind.”

Meher Archive’s upcoming Dhuni: Monday, October 12, 4:30-6:00 p.m., rain or shine. If there is rain, we will circle our chairs inside the building in the Meeting Room (2nd Floor).

Location: Meher Archive Campus, 53 Red Oak School Rd, Weaverville, NC.

Gather together on Meher Archive’s lawn for a sacred Dhuni, an opportunity to offer to the fire and to remember Baba. Bring your poems, music, and stories.

Treasures, Tales & Tea . . . An Afternoon with the Women Mandali
Sunday, Oct. 11th, 2-4 p.m.

Please join us for this beautiful exhibition of treasures from Meher Baba’s Eastern and Western Women Mandali at Meher Archive Collective, 53 Red Oak School Rd, Weaverville, NC.

On display will be saris and other clothing, shoes, jewelry, and many additional personal belongings from Mehera, Mani, Katie, Meheru, Goher, Arnavaz, Khorshed, and Mansari, as well as from Elizabeth, Norina, Kitty, Rano, Jane, and Filis.

Come and sip tea from our lovely collection of teacups, and bring a story about the women for sharing.

The Charlie Mills paintings exhibition is on display through October. The Women Mandali exhibition will be displayed through the end of the year.

Meher Baba’s Final Declaration is one of his most important public statements, given at Meherabad on 30 September 1954. It was addressed to followers who had gathered from around the world. The declaration outlines his universal work, the purpose of his silence, and the events he said would soon occur.
