The audience was moving to the sounds of soul stirring melodies during “A Night of Jazz” at Chandor Gardens on Saturday, June 13, 2026 performed by the Duane Durrett Trio with special guest Sandra Kaye.
This was yet again a sold out concert. We feel so blessed that we can host such amazing musicians right here in Weatherford.

Today, June 3, 2026, the “Aileen Westbrook Malloy” portrait, painted by Douglas Chandor in 1934, and which has prominently hung in the foyer of the Chandor house at Chandor Gardens since May of 2012, was temporarily removed to have much needed conservation work completed over the summer.

It’s kind of like Aileen is going on a summer holiday for some “restorative spa like treatments”.

The portrait is expected to return to the Chandor house sometime this Fall looking bright and fresh.

On Tuesday, May 26, a number of members from the TCU Silver Frogs Art Quest group had a docent tour of Chandor Gardens.

This group had a keen interest in learning about Douglas Chandor’s artistic vision and his artistic accomplishments, and as such asked really insightful questions throughout the tour and appreciated seeing how Douglas applied his artistic skills into the design of his garden.

The TCU Silver Frogs Art Quest group is a shared interest group who enjoy art with friends through visits to museums, galleries, studios, public spaces, and private collections. They also visit with artists and watch while they work and more. As well they often have lunch together to foster discussions of art and cultivate friendships.

The Friends of Chandor Gardens meeting Wednesday, May 20, 2026 had Linda Smith and Dru Starnes from the Weatherford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as guest speakers.

With May being National Historic Preservation month there was no better organization to have come tell their story and to share all the projects they have done and are currently doing here in Parker County to facilitate historic preservation.

DAR is also doing some very special projects here in Parker County to commemorate America’s 250th Birthday.

For those who aren’t familiar with DAR, it is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and who’s members lineal bloodline decent is from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence during the Revolutionary War.

The Weatherford Chapter of DAR was organized in 1903 (123 years of continuous active operations)
