It was a Pink Out meeting in September🩷 We are about to be a Cherry Blossom Chapter! The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently donated $2 million dollars to the Trust for the National Mall which supports the National Park Service efforts in maintaining, pruning and replanting the cherry trees in Washington D.C. This was done in honor of America's 250th birthday! The Weatherford Chapter is proud to be a part of these efforts as well as other service projects which will qualify us to be called a Cherry Blossom Chapter. Huzzah, ladies!!!

On this day in history, British Major Patrick Ferguson met his match of South Carolina Backcountry and Appalachian Mountain men from places that would later become the states of Tennessee and Kentucky on Kings Mountain. It was a small battle on this rocky hilltop in western South Carolina that became the first major setback for Britain's southern strategy. This started a chain of events that culminated in Cornwallis's surrender at Yorktown.
