The Weatherford High School Blue Belles began in the 1981-82 school year. The Belles evolved from the existing drill team-- the WHS Kangaroo Kuties-- which performed from 1977-1981 under the direction of Teena Hughes, Becky Summerlin, and Bernadette Sanchez. Nika Orm Carter was a Charter drill team member of the Kuties and their first Captain from 1977-79. Carter returned to WHS in 1981 as the Fo

unding Director of the WHS Blue Belles. She retired after dedicating 30 years of service to this organization. Carter for two years, is now the current Director for the Blue Belles. Assistant Directors of the Belles have included Debra Ezell, Abigail Smith Payne, Hayley Bassham Laura Duck-Buckner, Keri Fleming, Belinda Linker, Adriana Yarbrough, Jaimee Moore and Kathryn Cody.

Mike Carter and I had the most blessed day recently....we visited Amsterdam on August 15th and were able to see Rosa Gartner ! She was our Exchange student from Berlin in 1996-97 as well as a Blue Belle. We hadn't seen her since 2002 and not only did she give us the grand tour of her beautiful city, but we celebrated her birthday too! Lovely, lovely day!
