Board Member Spotlight - Jonathan Martin

Jonathan Martin has been a proud resident of Parker County since 2006. He served in the United States Marine Corps, including a deployment to Iraq in 2004.

Jonathan began his career with Parker County Hospital District Emergency Medical Services in 2006, where he worked as a full-time paramedic for 15 years. He now serves as a Community Health Paramedic, helping residents navigate the healthcare system and supporting them in living safe, healthy, and independent lives at home.

In addition to his role in community health, Jonathan has been a tactical medic with the Parker County SWAT team for the past 10 years. He is also an active member of the department’s wildland fire deployment team and serves as a special event coordinator.
Jonathan further supports his community as a board member for the Salvation Army, a role he has held since 2025.

The Salvation Army is responding after multiple tornadoes moved through North Texas this week. Salvation Army teams in Wise, Parker and Palo Pinto counties are providing support, emergency assistance and pallets of relief items such as cleanup kits and storage bins to residents affected by the tornadoes. As March comes to a close, we’re proud to highlight this month’s food pantry donation to Parker County Committee on Aging - Meals on Wheels and The Senior Center. We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting members of our community, made possible by our 2025 Red Kettle Campaign.

Each Friday, individuals ages 60 and over can visit the food pantry for additional groceries and personal care items.

Board Member Spotlight - Grant Mills

Grant Mills proudly serves on the Salvation Army Board of Directors for Parker County. With a strong commitment to faith, service, and community leadership, Grant brings both professional experience and a heart for people to the board. As a leader in higher education and student development at Weatherford College, he is passionate about mentorship, organizational growth, and strengthening community partnerships that make a lasting impact.

Grant believes deeply in The Salvation Army’s mission to meet human needs and serve others with compassion and dignity. He is honored to support efforts that provide hope, stability, and practical assistance to families across Parker County. Through his service, he strives to help advance initiatives that foster compassion, accountability, and meaningful change within the community.

Although Grant Mills has been a member of our board for a shorter period of time, he has consistently shown up to support our efforts and our community! We’re thankful he joined us!

Sorry for the late post, but we didn’t want to miss the chance to share our February Food Pantry donation to the Senior Center! Thank you to our board members shown below for gathering the items last month (John Martin, John Patterson, and Becky Powell).

Each month, we’re grateful for the opportunity to give back to the seniors in our community, and this donation is just one of the many ways we’re able to support them. These efforts are made possible through the generosity of our community during the Red Kettle Campaign.

Thank you to everyone who helps make moments like this possible. Your support truly makes a difference for our senior neighbors!

Board Member Spotlight — Treasurer, John Patterson

John Patterson has been proudly serving alongside The Salvation Army for the past 20 years, dedicating his time and talents to making a meaningful impact in Parker County.

John has been happily married to his wife, Chelsey, for 23 years, and together they are raising two wonderful children — Addy (16) and Nash (11). Faith, family, and community are at the heart of everything John does.

His journey with The Salvation Army began while working at First National Bank, where he served as a loan assistant to Fred Werner, who was Treasurer for the organization at the time. What started as support behind the scenes soon grew into a deeper calling. After several years of involvement, John joined the board and eventually stepped into the role of Treasurer, continuing a legacy of faithful service.

For John, serving is about being a small part of something much greater. One of his favorite traditions is volunteering to Ring the Bell each year — wishing Parker County residents a Merry Christmas and witnessing firsthand how generosity strengthens the community. Even more meaningful has been involving his own family in ringing the bell, teaching his children that even small acts of service can make a lasting difference.

John’s heart for service and dedication to community embody the mission of The Salvation Army, and we are grateful for his continued leadership and commitment!

Because of the generosity of our amazing community during the 2025 Red Kettle Campaign, we are excited to launch a new initiative this year — a monthly donation to the Parker County Committee on Aging - Meals on Wheels and The Senior Center food pantry!

Our Board Treasurer, John Patterson, dropped off January’s donation, helping ensure seniors in our community have access to the food and support they need.

This is just one of the many ways your Red Kettle donations are staying right here at home and making a real impact. We are so grateful for our generous donors who make programs like this possible.

Together, we’re continuing to serve our community with love and purpose. ❤️
