Y’ALL… GOD JUST DID SOMETHING HUGE!
As many of you know, we’ve been working hard to purchase a small trainer airplane for our MAPS students and future missionary flight students. That fundraiser is still very much needed, and we’re not taking our eyes off that goal.
But there was another airplane we had planned to pursue after the trainer—an airplane specifically suited for missionary aviation. One that could carry more, fly faster, and go farther. An airplane capable of transporting medical patients, responding to disasters, carrying missionaries, and reaching remote communities. We figured we’d start working toward that airplane sometime in the next year or two.
Well… God had a different timeline.
While we were working toward the trainer, God sent us the mission airplane first!
Next Monday, we are picking up a Piper PA-24-250 Comanche!
This is a HUGE blessing for Texas Air Missions and those we who will see the love of Christ through our missions.
I’ve already been communicating with folks in South Texas along the border about opportunities to serve in the future. We’re building relationships now so that when hurricanes, flooding, medical needs, or other emergencies arise, we’ll be ready to respond.
And this airplane is perfect for that mission.
It will allow us to reach those border communities and return to North Texas without needing to refuel with a 1,000 mile range; and with flights taking only a couple of hours each way with a 180 mph cruise speed. And we can carry more than 1,000 pounds. That dramatically expands what we’ll be able to do.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking: “What about the trainer airplane?”
Keep that fundraiser front and center!
The Comanche is far too much airplane for our beginning flight students to start out in. We still need the trainer so that MAPS can continue training the next generation of pilots and mechanics who will eventually help carry this mission forward.
I absolutely hate fundraising. I know most of y’all hate being asked for money, too. I don't know how many more fundraisers we'll do, if any, but the opportunity to buy the trainer airplane is simply too good to pass up.
We didn’t plan it this way.
God did.
So before we start talking about money, airplanes, fundraisers, or anything else…
Take a moment today and give God thanks and praise for this incredible blessing.
The airplanes are His. The mission is His.
We are humbled He chose us to use them, excited to be along for the ride, and expectant about what He is going to do with it.
