Gentlemen and Compatriots,
It is my honor to extend to you an invitation to participate in a program we are planning to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Officer House Massacre and the sacrifice made by those brave Terry's Texas Rangers who were martyred there.
I am the President of the Cynthia Holford Officer Chapter #18 of the Tennessee Society Order of Confederate Rose, a TN State Vice President, but first and foremost, a Native Texan. As such, I'm also a member of the Texas Society, Emma Sansom Chapter in Tyler, Texas. I live in Overton County, TN, and our chapter is named after Mrs. Officer, whose wounding in the Massacre was all that saved her home and family from the Yankees, particularly her son, John Holford Officer, who was hidden in the attic by a family slave.
Your participation in honoring these fallen Texas Rangers in 2006 was the highlight of that memorial at the Officer House.
We are planning a commemoration of this event on Saturday, April 26 at the Officer family cemetery and would very much welcome the participation of your regiment again in this ceremony. The TNSOCR and the Sons of Confederate Veterans Gainesboro Invincibles #1685 are jointly working on hosting this event. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if we may enjoy the honor of your presence at this event in the 2014 Sesquicentennial commemoration of this brave episode in Tennessee and Southern history. Until then, I remain
Your obedient servant,
Betty Aronson

Once again the SCV and OCR have invited us to again be a part of the honoring of our fallen brothers near Gainsesboro TNN. All of us that made the trip, the last time we were invited, left with a feeling that words could not explain. Run it up the pole and let me know.
