Weatherford Whiskers Weatherford Whiskers is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue group. We are not a public rescue. We rescue high risk cats for our local shelters.

We rescue, rehab and assist in re-homing high risk cats from shelters and private groups. Mission Statement

Weatherford Whiskers is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue group. Once rescued, we place the pet in experienced foster homes where they receive love, are socialized for family life and given top notch vet care including vaccinations and are spayed/neutered, before being placed up for adoption in to a furever home! Our highly trained volunteers can also assist with Trap/Neuter/Return of feral cats to their colonies.

They are ok!
They were very hungry and needed a bath because they have bad diarrhea. These are the kittens found on our porch after being left for 12 hours overnight.
We try so hard to help people get their cats spayed/neutered by loaning out traps, giving them information on FREE programs, and running a pet food pantry to help feed them. These people borrowed one of our traps and took the number tag off it so we could not find out who borrowed it then dumped 5 kittens on our porch.
This is why rescues shut down. People do nothing and sit here and complain we don’t do enough.

THIS IS NOT OK!!!!!
We are out of foster homes and funds so if anyone that thinks this is OK we would gladly accept your help.
Does anyone recognize this man?
Yesterday evening at 8pm, a man came to our center and walked over to look at our sign to make sure we were closed. He then went to his car and grabbed a trap full of 5 kittens and left it on our porch. Those poor kittens sat on our porch overnight for 12 hours until our cleaners came in this morning at 8 am to clean!
We understand that what he did was better than what he could have done, BUT he could have taken them to the shelter where they have a vet on staff, paid staff to care for them, and funding. Instead he left them on our porch which is run by volunteers, has no vet, and runs solely on donations. We try to be responsible and only rescue what we can handle and have funds to care for. Adding 5 more means 5 more vet bills and that is just for spay/neuter and vaccinations but it does not include vet visits to get them healthy.

RIP sweet little Mercury. She knew love for the short time we had her. She deserved a chance and did not die alone. Thank you all for the prayers and love. Run free sweet little one.

LOTS OF PRAYERS NEEDED!
We took this little one to see if we could save it. One of our best medical fosters has it but we really need prayers. It is skin and bones and very sick.

Mark you calendars for WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30th. WHISKER WEDNESDAY AT THE WEATHERFORD SHELTER

🐾 WHISKER WEDNESDAY is next week – SEPTEMBER 30 — Don’t Miss Out! Community cats everywhere are out there in heat or pregnant NOW! It is a very hard and miserable life for kittens born outside and for the mother cats trying to keep them alive. The majority of kittens born outside never see their first birthday. Many born outside in this heat don’t survive their first few weeks. People are bringing in “orphaned” kittens almost daily to the shelter, many near death. YOU can prevent that by getting both of the parents fixed before any kittens are born.

Our FREE spay/neuter program for community cats is happening this WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30! We will be accepting the first 100 cats from our service area inside Parker County. The line starts forming early—so be sure to arrive early!

📍 Important Details:
✅ You must be a resident of our service areas within Parker County.
✅ Cats must be in appropriately sized live traps (no squirrel traps—cats must be able to lay on their side comfortably, as this is where they recover post-surgery). One cat per trap.
✅ Kittens must weigh at least 1.5 pounds to be spayed or neutered, and must weigh at least 3 pounds (age 12 weeks) to get rabies vaccination.
✅ Cats will be spayed or neutered, and receive rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, and antibiotic and B-Complex injections.
✅ Gate opens for drop-off at around 8:30 AM, until 100 cats have checked in. The line starts forming early, SO DON’T BE LATE!
✅ Same-day pickup times will be assigned at drop-off.

‼️IT’S HOT, Y’ALL! Please be sure you have a safe temperature-controlled place to hold them overnight, as they will not be able to regulate their body temperature after surgery. Use that flattened Chewy/Amazon box to set the traps on (can also add p*e pads) to collect waste and keep your floor clean. Set them up in a bathroom or bathtub or laundry room where they can rest undisturbed. Please don’t leave them outside overnight; they can die. No, a fan is not enough. ‼️

‼️ Please make sure that they are in a live trap! CARRIERS or WIRE CRATES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED! Cats not in live traps will be turned away! Please do not use small squirrel traps for adult cats! There needs to be room to lay the unconscious cat in the trap after surgery, and there needs to be room for them to stand up as they are waking up. ONLY ONE CAT PER TRAP! ‼️ If you catch two cats in one trap, bring an extra trap (empty), and we will assist you in transferring one cat to the extra trap.

Cover the traps with an old towel or sheet to help calm the cat. ALWAYS secure the trap doors with a zip tie (or something similar). Traps with rings on either side of the door can allow escape if it tilts, as can some of the cheaper traps.

All cats will get a notch cut in one ear (NO EXCEPTIONS), which tells anyone who sees the cat that he has already been fixed.

Traps are available for loan at our shelter with a $50 returnable deposit, as well as at Weatherford Whiskers with a $75 credit card deposit (not charged if traps returned in good condition within 2 weeks).

This program plays a huge role in reducing the community cat population, and we appreciate your participation! 🐾

If you have any questions, please call 817-598-4111 or email [email protected].

💜 See you on Wednesday, and thank you for helping us make a difference!
