Equines for the Front Lines

Equines for the Front Lines A small equine therapy program in north Texas is making a big difference in the lives of veterans and first responders.

There is no charge, no obligation and prior horse experience is not required. Peer-to-peer support - The shared experience of veterans is a powerful bond. Veteran volunteers are trained to support their fellow veterans. Through the train-the-trainer program, veterans teach lessons and activities, as well as provide moral and physical support to other veterans. Equines for the Front Lines offers an

environment of safety and relaxation in a small group setting. Veterans have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and experiences with the horses. The program includes time for fellowship with other veterans, horsemanship presentations and hands-on demonstrations. Veterans work with the horses on the ground and in the saddle. Off-site trips to local equine professionals and facilities provide additional experiences.

What a spectacular evening last night to play with the ponies! Riders practiced walk-trot transitions, lateral moves, and the rope gate. In the pasture, the group was challenged to think of situations they need to prepare their horse for and decide which Parelli game would be most appropriate. Everyone did a great job and enjoyed time with the horses and each other!
