Love Weatherford is making Weatherford cleaner, safer and more beautiful!

We’ve started an anti litter campaign with our slogan being “Don’t Trash Our W’ford!

❤️W now had over 1,200 members and we’re growing daily.

We’ve spend over 700 hours in 9 months picking up over 1,350 bags of trash totaling over 7 tons 1 little piece at a time.

We’ve started working on removing piled up dirt, degree and weeds on sidewalks.

We are working on planting trees in the fall to beautify and screen unsightly visuals.

We now have a column in Hoopla Magazine called Trash Talk. It will be dedicated to inspiring citizens in 11 cities in 4 counties and growing to improve their local areas.

We have also began working with the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce to spread our mission.

There’s more that we’re cooking up which we’ll share as we get farther along.

The Love Weatherford story, so far

4 months ago I was inspired at church to do some community service by picking up the trash on my street. I was so sick of the ugly trash and watching it slowly getting worse.

My wife, a daughter and I had the most wonderful time together in beautifying our street. It gave us a really good feeling along with having special quality time together. It was also a huge hit with the neighbors! We’re much closer with our neighbors now.

When we finished our street I didn’t want that wonderful feeling and experience to end. So we decided to do the next street heading towards town. We had the same amazing experience all over again and made new friends picking up trash in front of their properties.

When we arrived at the end of the 2nd road I decided to clean the entire 18 minute drive to town. The same experience happened again and Ive made even more friends! Now 2/3s of our drive to town is super clean, super beautiful and super enjoyable!

Also by the end of finishing the 2nd street I figured that there must be other people in Weatherford that would enjoy what I was experiencing. And boy was I right!

On November 24th of last year we created Love Weatherford on FB. 3.5 months later we have dozens of people picking up trash! And tons of it too! In fact over 3 tons!

Our membership has exploded to over 600 people gearing up to help who are also sick of the trash. Incredible!

I’m sure that in time that our membership will grow to over 5,000! And we’ll finally make all of Weatherford trash free!

In the past months Love Weatherford has been in the newspaper twice, on tv once and we have 3 magazine articles in the works.

In a very small nut shell, that’s our story so far. But I promise that the best by far is yet to come!

The Fox 4 morning show in Dallas did an episode on our Love Weatherford efforts!

At lunch a week later a guy walked up to me in town asking if I was the guy on TV with our group cleaning the town. 😂 Super fun!

We received a call from the city! They said wanted us to come meet the Mayor and get a picture with him along with meet with city board!

We reported to the City that just that day that Love Weatherford hit our 500th member and that we also had collected our 500th bag of trash which was a total of 2.5 tons! The packed room gasped!

It was worth all the effort!

5 days later we have 600 members and 565 bags collected. To the moon!

This is our group cleaning a waterway. It was pretty bad! We collected 8 bags that day and there’s still more but we’re almost done and it looks so much better!
