Low light pistol/rifle is this Saturday July 15th and it’s sure to be a good time! This course is limited in the number of students due to the reduced visibility and the needed student/instructor ratio, but there’s still a few spots open if anyone is interested.

This will be a basic 4-5 hour course covering topics of target identification and shooting under reduced and no light conditions using handheld and weapons mounted flashlights.

Most public ranges don’t allow night shooting, so this course is special in that it allows responsible citizens to gain valuable knowledge and insight for those times during reduced lighting conditions.

To catch-up on posting, we finished up our 1-day basic handgun course (Pistol 1) at the end of May and a 2-day intermediate carbine course (Carbine 2) the weekend before last. Both of these were great classes and all of the students excelled throughout the courses by putting in a lot of good work on the warm days.

Carbine 2 was especially fun because it builds off the basic fundamentals these responsible citizens and Law Enforcement Officers had previously learned and challenged them to better themselves and up their level of skill. Videos are in the comments because it wouldn’t let me add with the pictures.

Yesterday we finished up day one of what will be four days this month of impact munition and OC training for a western Oklahoma law enforcement agency.

After covering the use of impact munitions and the legalities surrounding it, Deputies and Detention Officers were exposed to numerous scenarios where they had to apply their knowledge and ability against a live role player using simunitions rounds and a simunition kit designed for 12 gauge shotguns.

For those that might not know, impact munitions (sometimes called bean bag rounds or rubber balls) are less lethal projectiles that are generally fired from a 12 gauge shotgun and use their kinetic energy to gain compliance of uncooperative individuals. Impact munitions along with Tasers and OC (pepper spray) are great less lethal use of force options for Law Enforcement agencies to have when used correctly.

We finished up a 2-day Basic Handgun class over the weekend for Southwestern Oklahoma State University. There’s not very many colleges that I know of that you can get college credit for shooting fi****ms and fulfilling the training requirements to obtain your Self-Defense Act license. This course goes above and beyond SDA requirements and students leave with far more practical shooting experience than most civilians ever get.

Special thanks to CoolFire Trainer for the dryfire presentation and allowing these students to get hands on with the equipment to get some valuable dryfire repetitions. If you’re looking to up your dryfire game, check them out!

We got back yesterday from a long 10 days on the road in Alabama.

First we had a little R&R in South Alabama with the intention of hunting some pigs under night vision, even though the weather had other plans for us. We still had a great time.

Then we attended a 5 day course outside of Montgomery. We’re always students trying to learn! Thanks to the County Sheriff’s Office for being a great range host. Probably one of the nicest ranges I’ve been on! Plus, the 70° weather was pretty nice.

Also, special thanks to Boone Walker for overnighting a CoolFire Trainer from Oklahoma so we could use it for a demonstration and presentation on the last day. If you’re looking to up your dryfire game, check out CoolFire Trainer!
