I ask that you feel free to contact me here or via email at [email protected]. Please know, I do my absolute best to respond to all inquiries at the earliest opportunity.
*Here are a couple frequently asked questions:
*Dog Registrations:
Any dog over four months of age is required to be registered with the Town. In order to register, your dog will need to have a current rabies vaccination. Around March the town will send out a courtesy letter reminding you to register your dog(s). Annual registration runs May 1st to April 30th of the following year. For an intact dog the cost to register is $10.00. If your dog(s) are neutered or sprayed (you must provide proof) the cost is $7.50. If you do not register your dog(s) you will incur additional fees.
*Dog(s) Running at Large:
This is a common concern in Town. In fact, we receive many of these calls throughout the year. Inevitably, some dogs do sneak out or get away on occasion but we must consider the risk involved. For example, the loose dog could potentially cause an accident on a roadway causing injury to the animal, the motorist or both. Each occurrence will be documented and appropriate action will follow.
-In accordance with NH state law the above referenced information also pertains to livestock.
*Animal Shelter:
Currently, the Town does not have a proper kennel available to safely hold animals. When possible, we will hold them at the Police Department (for a brief period) for your convenience. Please understand, due to staffing and calls for service this temporary measure is not guaranteed.
We have established a working relationship with the professional and caring staff of the Pope Memorial SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). This facility is properly equipped with the appropriate holding facilities.
The SPCA is located at:
94 Silk Farm Road
Concord, NH
Tel. (603) 856-8756
In the event your dog does go missing we suggest calling the Weare Police Department at (603) 529-7755 to first inquire as to whether we have been involved.
Lastly, please note, the SPCA will charge a fee for
holding dog(s) until they are picked up.
