Today is World Environment Day, and we are grateful for the ways our campus continues to grow.

At Haywood Pathways Center, our community garden is more than a garden. It is a place of nourishment, learning, peace, and connection. It reminds us that caring for our neighbors and caring for the land are deeply connected.

We have also loved working alongside our new friends at Hope Grows Community Garden, whose heart for growing food and building community has already been such an encouragement to us.

Gardens teach us something important: small seeds, cared for consistently, can become something that feeds many.

If you have ever wanted to start your own garden, Haywood County has wonderful local resources to help. Contact the Haywood County Cooperative Extension and ask about the Extension Master Gardener program or home gardening support.

They also offer a Plant Clinic with Master Gardener volunteers during the growing season.

Today, we celebrate every garden, every grower, and every neighbor working to make Haywood County healthier, greener, and more connected.

The Rotary Club of Waynesville Sunrise heard about a serious safety need on our campus — and immediately stepped in to help.

Last week, we shared that Haywood Pathways Center was experiencing door failures in both of our dorm areas. On most campuses, replacing doors may sound simple.

But our campus has a unique history.

Haywood Pathways Center was once a prison, now transformed into a place of shelter, healing, and hope. So when we replace doors, we are often replacing old prison doors — and that comes with a significant cost.

When Waynesville Sunrise Rotary heard the need, they jumped into action and wrote a check to help us replace both dorm doors, keeping our residents secure and our campus safe.

This was not just about doors.

It was about safety.
It was about dignity.
It was about making sure the people who come here to rebuild can rest without fear.

At Pathways, every repair matters because every space matters. Every dorm, every doorway, every secure place to sleep is part of the safety net our residents rely on as they begin again.

To The Rotary Club of Waynesville Sunrise: thank you.

Thank you for seeing the need, responding quickly, and helping us protect the dignity and safety of the people we serve.

☕ Coffee and Conversations: Help Bring the Holy Cow Back

This Coffee and Conversations, we’re inviting you to participate in a larger conversation:

How can we collectively be part of the solution for the return of the Holy Cow food truck?

Join us as we share where things stand, what steps have already been taken, and what still needs to happen to bring the Holy Cow back to operations.

We want this to be more than an update. We want it to be a conversation.

Bring your questions.
Bring your ideas.
Bring your heart for this community.

Together, we can explore what it looks like to move forward with purpose and partnership.

We need volunteers for Pathways To-Go: Meals Within Reach.

As the Holy Cow Food Truck gets a much-needed reset, Haywood Pathways Center is working to make sure our remote communities still have access to warm, nutritious meals.

Right now, Pathways To-Go serves:

Wednesdays: Fines Creek
Thursdays: Cruso United Methodist Church

This opportunity is simple, meaningful, and deeply needed. Volunteers help us bring meals into remote areas of Haywood County, reaching neighbors who may not have easy access to transportation, grocery stores, or regular meal support.

If you have been looking for a practical way to serve locally, this is it.

Thank you Waynesville Rotary Club for building an outdoor cooking area and in the process, helped create a space where our campus community can gather, eat, and belong for years to come.

Recently, Waynesville Rotary members came to Haywood Pathways Center to build our new outdoor cooking area. Then they came back to help serve the very first fish fry from the space they helped make possible.

That is partnership in action.

What started as a simple conversation quickly became a lasting gift to our residents, staff, volunteers, and community. This new space will help us host meals, share fellowship, and bring people together around food and service.

To the Waynesville Rotary Club: thank you for gifting Haywood Pathways Center a lifetime of outdoor cooking, gathering, and community.

We are deeply grateful.

Does your church have a choir, worship band, or gospel group?

We would love to welcome you to Haywood Pathways Center.

We are always looking for local churches and worship groups willing to come share the gift of music with our campus. Whether it is a worship night, gospel concert, acoustic set, choir performance, or simple evening of praise, your music can bring joy, encouragement, and life to our residents.

Outdoor and indoor concerts are welcome.

Music has a way of lifting spirits, building community, and reminding people they are not alone. If your church is looking for a meaningful local mission opportunity, this is a beautiful way to serve.

Come share the music of the Gospel with our campus.
