Calendar for September, 2023. Hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of summer. Schools are back in session so hopefully you'll all have time to do some quilting. Here is the calendar this month.

Saturday, Sept. 9 - 9am-3pm at the church. I'm sorry that I don't have a picture to show you but I have attached the pattern with directions on how to cut your pieces. We thought we'd use civil war fabrics but you can use whatever fabric you'd like. A nice fall fabric would look nice. Potluck at noon as always so bring a dish to pass or your own lunch if you prefer. Non-members are welcome to come with a $5 charge.

Sew Day, Tuesday, Sept. 19 - 9:30am-2:00 pm at the church. This day is open for anyone who'd like to join us. It's a time to get together and work on whatever project you have. Maybe you have a Christmas project that you'd like to get started on or one you're already working on - just whatever you wish. It's a good time to get help if you're new to quilting or are having a problem with something you're working on. Lunch is on you.

Guild Business Meeting, Monday, Sept. 25 - 5-6pm is meet and greet; 6-8 is our regular meeting. This is a time when we find out what the board has planned for the following month. We've also been reminded that if you are doing the mystery quilt block that it is due at this meeting. We've got some other plans in process for December so stay tuned. Non-members are welcome to come and visit for 2 meetings before joinging. Our yearly dues are $15 and are pro-rated from the month you join.

Guess that's it for this month. Hope the temperatures cool off alittle so you can enjoy some time outside. Until next time - happy quilting!

Correction to April Calendar post!
Workshop - The Waterfall 2 quilt we'll be doing is a pattern by Busy Hands Quilt not Robert Kaufman. Busy Hands also has a download patten available. The Robert Kaufman pattern uses different sizes of strips from the Busy Hands pattern which we will be learning from. There are other patterns out there called Waterfall 2 but aren't all the same. Sorry for the error and hope this isn't too confusing.

Also concerning the Stay-cation projects. The pattens I referred to at the April meeting are for making 3 yd quilts, aprons and runners which will be taught on Sat. May 13th. As always you may use your own patterns. This is not manditory, you can work on whatever you want. The donation quilts can be worked on at any time.

Calendar for April, 2023

Workshop: Sat., April 8 - 9am-3pm at the church. This month we will be making a quilt called Waterfall 2 by Robert Kaufman. You will need the pattern and fabric. This is available as a download. This is a log cabin type of block so you will need the pattern to be able to cut your fabrics and mark them before the workshop. (See enlarged pattern picture and fabric requirements at the end of this post). As always if you don't wish to do this project you're welcome to bring any project to work on. There is a charge of $5 for visitors. Potluck at noon so bring a dish to pass or your own lunch if you prefer.
Sew Day: Tues., April 18 - 9am-2pm at the church. This day is open to anyone who would like to join us. No charge for visitors. Bring your own project and sewing supplies. If you need help with a project we would be happy to help you. Bring your own lunch.
Guild Meeting: Mon, Apr. 24 - 5-6pm meet and greet; 6-8 business meeting. We usually start our meetings with a Sew and Tell time for you to show everyone what you've finished or are working on. We always have lots of very nice quilts, wall hangings, table runners, baby quilts, etc. to see. Then we have a business meeting to find out what the plans are for the upcoming month(s). If you are a non-member you can visit us for 2 meetings before joining. Our dues are $15 a year beginning in January and pro-rated each month following.

Upcoming Events: We will be having a Stay-cation on May 11,12,13. This year we will be staying at the church. Hours are 11 am-8pm on the 11th; 8am-9pm on the 12th; 9am-3pm on the 13th. These are approximate times. You can come and go as you wish. It's up to you whether or not you want to stay overnight. Plans will be finalized at the April meeting. We'll also be working on our donation quilts. Patterns will be available if you so choose at our April meeting.

On-going: We are making donation quilts for several nursing homes at Christmas in our area. There are ladies, men, veteran's so whatever you want to make will be appreciated. We have until fall to complete this task. If you need someone to quilt it for you there will be a few ladies that will do it for you at no charge. As soon as you finish a quilt you can turn it in at any meeting. Approx size should be at least 40x60.

Heads up: Our June meeting will be held at Buckles Bobbins and Bolts quilt shop in Lebanon. Details to follow.

All for now. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter!

Calendar for March, 2023

I'm going to start by talking about the Ozark Shop Hop that begins tomorrow Mar. 1-4. Please see details at the end of this posting. It shows who and where all the participating shops are. So get together a car full and have a good time.

Now for our guild calendar for March.
Workshop: Sat. Mar. 11, 9-3 at the church. This is the second time around for the quilt entitled Street Fair by Clark Street Quilts. You can work on what you've already started or start new. See picture at end of this post.
Here are the requirements: Street Fair (finished 72 ½ x 72 ½) Materials needed: Your own pattern; 1 Layer Cake & your own sewing supplies.
A layer cake is 42 – 10” squares of various fabrics.
3 2/3 yds background fabric; 2/3 yds for binding; backing 4 ½ yds.
Please have all your pieces cut before hand.
If you are using yardage you will need:
 ½ yard of fabric will yield 4 squares
 1 yard of fabric will yield 12 squares
 1¼ yards of fabric will yield 16 squares
 2 yards of fabric will yield 28 squares
 Approx. 3 ½ yds to equal 42 squares
To make a scrappy quilt then use the measurements above.
CORRECTION TO THE PATTERN: When making the 4 patch blocks it says to cut your fabric 3 1/2". Change that to 2 1/2" so that when you sew them together you end up with a 4 1/2" unfinished block. (hope that's not too confusing!) See photo at the end of this message. If you don't want to work on the current project we'll also be working on some donation quilts if you wish to help. We will be donating several quilts to nursing homes, baby quilts to the hospital and veteran's quilts. We have several kits cut and ready for you to use if you wish or use your own fabrics and patterns. Potluck at noon: Bring a dish to share or your own lunch if you wish. There is a $5 charge for non-members to attend.

Sew Day: 3rd Tues., .Mar. 21 - 9:30-2:30 at the church. This is open to all. Bring your own projects to work on and sewing supplies. If you are having trouble with a project and need help we're there to help you. Bring your own lunch.

Guild Meeting: 4th Mon., Mar. 27 - 5-6pm meet and greet; 6-approx 8pm is our business meeting where we will learn about the happenings in April. Non-members can visit 2 meetings before joining. After that your dues will be pro-rated the month you join. Our yearly dues are $15. We also have a Sew & Tell for you to share all your wonderful project(s).

Guess that's it for now. As always I'll let you know if anything changes or if I've forgotten something.

Have a great day - I think maybe Spring is on the way!! Yay!!

Correction to Feb. calendar post:
Our workshop chairlady says it's ok to go ahead and cut your fabrics according to the pattern before our workshop day on Feb. 11. That way you'll be ready to sew. (Please see original post for details about the quilt).

Also, I forgot to mention that one of our ladies will be giving out info about a mystery wall hanging if you're interested.

I think that's it!!!! Happy February tomorrow!!
