Our hearts are with Jeanna Osborn, Amanda (Mandy) Garrett, and their family during this incredibly difficult time. While caring for her seriously ill mother, Jeanna is now also grieving the unexpected loss of her father. Jeanna and Mandy, both Auxiliary members, could truly use the love and support of our Legion family right now. We are organizing a meal train to help ease some of the burden during the days ahead. Thank you for supporting them with your kindness, prayers, and generosity.

If you could help with a meal this upcoming week, that would relieve some stress for them!

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to provide. Whether you are able to donate a meal, send kind thoughts, or simply keep this family in your prayers, every act of kindness is deeply appreciated during this difficult time.

The members of Newland-Trimble American Legion Post 615 were proud to present the Outstanding Philanthropic Partner Award to Pat Davidson of Davidson’s Meats in recognition of his unwavering generosity, continued support of our Post, and the meaningful impact he has made throughout the Waynesville community.

Mr. Davidson was honored during our Memorial Day Luncheon on May 25, 2026. His kindness, community spirit, and dedication to supporting veterans and local events have touched countless lives and helped strengthen the mission of our Post.

Today, our community came together in a powerful show of patriotism, remembrance, and gratitude during the 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony at Miami Cemetery in Waynesville. Despite this weekends rain, the ceremony was very well attended and served as a meaningful tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the 2026 Waynesville High School Brass Ensemble and Director Leslie Schleman for the beautiful musical performances that added so much emotion and honor to the ceremony. Thank you to SAL Chaplain Chris Meyer and Auxiliary Chaplain Lisa Meyer for their heartfelt prayers, and to Commander Champ Brown, SAL Commander Trevor Johnson, and Auxiliary President Amanda Dahlinghaus for leading today’s program.
A special thank you goes to the Waynesville Boy Scouts for proudly leading the Salute and Pledge of Allegiance and assisting with the Depositing of Flowers. We are also grateful to Kathy Phipps of the Daughters of the American Revolution for recognizing our Revolutionary War Patriots buried at Miami Cemetery.
The moving Salute Over Graves by the Newland-Trimble American Legion Post 615 Firing Squad, under the direction of Sergeant of Arms Scott McCreary, along with the touching performance of Taps & Echo by Mason Stachler and Logan Wical, reminded all in attendance of the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Finally, thank you to Pat Davidson of Davidson Meat Processing and Newland-Trimble American Legion Post 615 for providing the wonderful meal and fellowship following the ceremony and Post 615 chaplain Dave Willis for blessing the meal.
Today was a beautiful reminder that the sacrifices of our veterans will never be forgotten, and that the Waynesville community continues to honor them with pride, respect, and gratitude.
