✨ From its very first year in 1970, when Waynesville’s merchants gathered for a simple sidewalk sale and decided to serve sauerkraut dinners to draw a crowd, the Sauerkraut Festival has always been about community at its heart.

That first weekend, just 528 pounds of sauerkraut was served, and 1,500 visitors filled our little village streets. There were checkers contests, spelling bees, and even prizes for the largest cabbage, a celebration full of laughter and small-town pride.

Fifty-six years later, the heart of it all remains the same. The merchants and volunteers still pour their time, creativity, and love into making this weekend something truly special.

Families continue to travel from near and far, returning year after year to walk these familiar streets, share favorite treats, and relive the memories made long ago. Old friends find each other in the crowd, children follow in their parents’ footsteps, and new stories are written beside the old. It is a tradition stitched together with love, laughter, and the kind of moments that linger long after the weekend fades.

Tucked just behind the tents, the heart and soul of Main Street quietly shines. These little shops, filled with stories, laughter, and generations of dreams, are what make Waynesville feel like a page pulled from a storybook, a place where every window tells a tale and every visit becomes part of the story. 💛 See you soon!

Goodbye September, and hello October! 🤎🍁🍂 We’re heading into the last few months of 2026, a time for gathering, enjoying traditions, and making memories in Waynesville.

✨ Waynesville has a way of holding onto memories and traditions. Whether you’re discovering the village for the first time or you’ve been coming back year after year, there’s always something familiar waiting for you, along with something new to discover.

October brings one of our most anticipated traditions, the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival, held like clockwork on the second weekend of October. It’s a weekend that brings people together to eat, shop, eat, visit, shop, and enjoy the charm of Waynesville.

Then November arrives with Waynesville Hearthwarming Holidays on the first weekend. It’s our welcome to the holiday season, with the first looks at Christmas throughout the shops, favorite recipes shared by shopkeepers, and plenty of reasons to spend the weekend in the village.

🧌 Next up is the third annual Fantasy Festival, bringing a little imagination and plenty of fun to Waynesville with costumes, characters, and a day made for getting into the spirit of fantasy.

Waynesville Town Square Days returns for its second year, with a visit from Luke and Kirk, an extra day to explore the shops, and the kind of small town weekend that feels straight out of a favorite television series. 😉 Familiar faces, local shops, coffee, coffee, coffee, and plenty happening around the square. ☕️

And finally, we’ll finish the season in with Christmas in the Village an annual tradition of spending time with family and friends, enjoying the Christmas Street Faire Market, and strolling through Waynesville as luminaries light the streets. 🎄🎅

Of course, the big events are only part of what’s ahead. Pop up events, special weekends, and unexpected reasons to visit will fill in the calendar along the way. Stay tuned and keep Waynesville on your calendar. There’s plenty more to come.

The best days always start in Waynesville! 🤎🍁🍂

Tonight kicks off the annual Historical Haunts a guided walk by the Museum at the Friends Home through downtown filled with spine tingling stories rooted in Waynesville’s history and passed down through generations. 👻 Tonight is the first night of the season, with more nights coming up. Get your tickets online at friendshomemuseum.org and choose your night for an evening of history and hauntings before it’s gone! 🌙✨

Friday is Dolly Day at Taylor's Coffee from 7 AM to 5 PM. 💗 Dolly has always believed in the power of a book and making sure children have books of their own, and Friday, Taylor’s is helping bring that gift to kids right here in Warren County. Taylor’s is partnering with the Warren County Imagination Library Foundation, with proceeds from the day going to support the foundation.

📚 The Mary L. Cook Public Library will be at Taylor’s throughout the day to share information and help get your little ones registered for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, bring your little bookworm by for a kids craft.

🍁 🎃 Saturday starts at Windmill Farm Market with the grand opening for the season. Hayrides, pumpkins, farm animals and family fun make it a perfect fall day.

Then make your way downtown for Bon Voyage to the Monarch Butterflies at Art Expressions as they prepare for their journey south. Enjoy a seed swap, games, prizes and kids crafts, then take your time shopping downtown. 🦋

And be sure to stop by Taylor’s Coffee & Creamery as they celebrate two years in Waynesville! 🎉 🥳 Two years of great coffee, good people and becoming such a wonderful part of the downtown community. ☕️🧋Grab your favorite drink, raise a cup to two years and sip and stroll your way through Waynesville.

The best days always start in Waynesville. 🤎

Start your day today at the Museum at Friends Home for their big annual garage sale. Plenty of vintage, plenty of good stuff, and plenty of things you just didn’t know you needed until they found you.

Tomorrow, Friday, the Wenches of Wormwood open their doors on Main Street, bringing a little piece of their dream to Waynesville. Come celebrate their grand opening and help give them a warm welcome to their new home. 🤎

Saturday brings the Waynesville Fall Fest and Ohio Renaissance Festival, with family fun, entertainment and plenty to see throughout the day. Stop by Waynesville Fitness for their Fall Open House, then stick around because things get a little more witchy after dark. 🌙✨

Witches Night Out takes over downtown Saturday evening with after hours shopping, c***r from the cauldron, palm readings and tea leaves ready to reveal what the future might have in store. Grab your friends, get a little curious and see what the night has waiting for you.

And when you think the evening is winding down, there’s one more stop…. An official after hours Ghost Hunt at the Museum at the Friends Home. 👻

While the temperatures may not quite feel like sweater weather yet, September brings the beginning of our favorite time of year in Waynesville. 🍂🍁 It is the season of fall traditions, family fun, spooky stories, evening strolls, and plenty of reasons to gather downtown.

This weekend, the fun begins with the annual Waynesville AirShow at Red Stewart Airfield and the kickoff to Renaissance Festival season!

Next weekend brings a full day of Waynesville fun. Start the morning with the final Underground Railroad Tour of the season, spend the day exploring the Waynesville Street Faire, then keep the evening going with after hours shopping during the Downtown Waynesville Antique & Vintage Crawl

And that is just the beginning ✨

September will bring spooky history with the Historical Haunts Walking Tour through Waynesville’s historic district, followed by another evening of after hours shopping during Witches Night Out.

We will also be celebrating some exciting milestones in our local business community, including the grand openings of Little River Bar and Grill on September 5 and The Wenches of Wormwood on September 18. Waynesville Fitness will celebrate one year, and Taylor's Coffee & Creamery celebrates two years!

And, of course, September would not be complete without some of the traditions that make fall in Waynesville special. 🎃 Waynesville Fall Fest returns, along with family fun at Windmill Farm Market and the Great Scarecrow Festival Grandma's Gardens

From festivals and faires to history, shopping, spooky stories, and celebrating the businesses that make our community what it is, September is packed with reasons to get out and enjoy Waynesville.

The Fourth of July weekend is here, and this is what summer is all about! ✨

Make Waynesville your stop this weekend! On Saturday join us at Noon as the annual Fourth of July Parade makes its way down Main Street. After the parade, browse our unique shops, enjoy lunch or a sweet treat, and then spend afternoon at the Waynesville annual community festival. It's a day packed with community, family fun, great food, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.

Then gather with family and friends to end the day under the stars as the fireworks light up the sky at 10:00 PM.

There is no better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than right here in Downtown Waynesville! 💛See you soon!
