03/18/2024

We’ve been pulling back the curtain and shining a light on what’s happening within our schools. Our hope is that you’ve seen hard work, commitment to excellence, and SPARTAN HEART at the center of it all.

Tomorrow we vote. Our schools need our support financially.

Vote “Yes.”

One of the ripple effects of strong schools is, a strong community. Strong schools heavily influence a town's economy, vitality, and heart. Look at the impact of just one ripple:

The Waynesville Leo Club is just 7 months old. In that time they have:

- Grown from 11 members to 42

- Completed 1020 hours of community service with with 31 activities and 19 service projects.

- Performed service in the following causes: Hunger, Humanitarian Efforts, Diabetes, Environmental, and Childhood Cancer.

- Raised $1,466 for Feed Nicaragua

- Are on track to raise $2000 for Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Waynesville Leo Club was recognized at the state level for their work and dedication. They also won 2nd place in Ohio Leo Club of the Year. Won special recognition for Leo Club Video. They also have a Waynesville LEO in the "Leo of the Year Competition" for both the State of Ohio and the Lions Club International Foundation.

An investment in your school is one that gives back. Vote Yes.

WATCH TO THE END
Our facilities don't come close to matching the caliber of effort and achievement happening within our school district. But don't take our word for it. Sometimes seeing really is believing...

“The expenses on the 5-year forecast are not going away. When they come up we will have to spend the money. Total cost of the 5 year plan is appx. 5.4 million. The current funding coming in over the next 5 years is 3.5 million. It doesn’t take a lot of math to realize, we don’t have enough.”

- Dr. Sam Ison
Superintendent

Our schools are doing incredible things while maintaining a low tax rate and conservative budget, demonstrating excellent stewardship. WLS is not asking for more money; just to maintain the funding they have.

Vote “Yes.”

We are thankful for community members who are asking questions and gathering the facts about the levy. What people are discovering is that there is a much larger and more important conversation about WLS Issue 8 levy than a Spartan Center. If the levy fails, there are not enough funds to cover the upcoming expenses (please see our levy videos for more info on this)

A "No" vote means the school will have a significant deficit in funding. A chiller for the A/C, fixing the leaky roof, and replacing buses are some examples of the non-negotiable upcoming expenses. Without funding from this levy (which is the same millage as the bond that is expiring), the school will have to dip into the operating budget (which is for staff/teacher salaries).

We are asking the community to please consider all the facts before voting. If you would like to meet with Dr. Ison you can schedule a time here:

If a meeting is not an option, please feel free to message the levy committee with any questions you may have. We're happy to message you or talk on the phone.

Thank you to Robert for posting his thoughts and allowing us to share them on our page.

Congrats to the wrestling team who is competing at State today!

And thank you to the band for sending them off with a bang!

Keep the same tax rate while improving our schools. Issue 8 funds tennis court resurfacing and more, with no tax increase. Show your support on March 19.
