Because we didn't get the word out as well as we should have, several people missed auditions for Jack and the Giant, a fractured fairy tale, to be presented by WG Muchinippi Community Theatre on October 8 and 9. Also because there can be a cast of forty, we welcome additional cast. Additional auditions will be held next Wednesday, June 21, at New Hampshire Community Church (the white one on SR 385) from 4:30 to 7 pm. Enter through the side door. Everyone, including adults, is welcome. Even though this is a musical, there are roles where you would not have to sing alone or in a small group. Please come and join us. Rehearsals will be limited this summer and you will not be expected to be at every one. If you can't make it to auditions or need further information, please call or text Jean Turner at (419)234-7679 or Pat Noykos at (419)234-1379..

Time to begin to prepare for next fall's musical "Jack and the Giant."
Ma is sick of making stew out of old shoes, wash rags, and garden gloves, but Jack won’t sell the family’s cow, Bossy. Fed up, Ma and Pa send Jack to the fair to sell Bossy so the family can eat a decent meal for once. When Jack meets up with a butcher, a glue maker, and a leather salesman at the fair, he can’t bring himself to sell poor Bossy. But then Jack encounters a peddler who promises to launch Bossy’s career in show business as a singing, dancing show cow. Jack believes in Bossy’s talent and trades her for some magic beans and 10 percent of Bossy’s show biz earnings. Angry that Jack brought back beans instead of money, Ma throws the beans out the window, where a giant beanstalk grows. The next day, Jack and his pet cat and dog climb the beanstalk and reach the city of Cloud People. The friendly Cloud People take Jack to the Giant’s castle, where he meets a magic harp that can sing, a hen that lays golden eggs, a clock that talks, and a pair of shoes that dance. Jack even encounters the Giant, whose reputation proves taller than his stature!
This show supports a large cast with lots of fun easy songs - lots of roles for all ages - including elementary school students
Auditions will be held very soon with practices a couple of times a week during the summer and production in the fall. Since everyone's summer schedule is different, rehearsals are planned so that you don't have to attend every one.

For auditions, be prepared to sing a simple song - even "Happy Birthday" or "You Are My Sunshine."

I misspoke when I mentioned the ticket sellers last night. All band and choir members from 5th grade up had the opportunity to sell to sell WG Muchinippi WinterFest raffle tickets. In at least one case, a younger student sold quite a few. Now the money they earned is deposited in their own personal account and will be available to them for the next big trip in 4 years. This is a great opportunity for your child to plan in advance for that big trip when they are in high school. In non-trip years, students get 50% of their sales deposited their account and in trip years, it's 75%.
Every ticket sold benefits the community in one way or another,so, if you have a music student, encourage them to sell raffle tickets next year. It benefits us all.

There is a live video of the drawing for grand prizes for WinterFest from this afternoon. Basically, the only tickets sold this year were ones that W-G band and choir members sold previous to their New York trip. Only a few students did this even though they were given 75% of what they sold back in cash to take to New York.
The winners were:
Step 2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kitchen - Jean Turner
Clear Channel African Safari Family Package - Jim Hennon
Camping Combo 1 - Jocelyn Hennon
Camping Combo 2 - The Bennett-Brinkman Family
Hit the Dirt $100 Gift Certificate - The Bennett-Brinkman Family

The chicken and pork chop dinner sponsored by the W-G cheerleaders was a huge success. They sold out and could have sold more.
