Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week!!

Our PTO made sure that Fairview Elementary staff were shown just how appreciated they truly are!!

On Monday, we set up a Charcuterie and Dessert station and Friday we set up a BBQ luncheon!!

We appreciate the wonderful staff of Fairview Elementary School every day!! We are so thankful for each and every one of them and the hard work, support, care and time they put in to teach our students!! And we wouldn’t be able to do these things without all our amazing Falcon Families who take part in our fundraising events!!

Here are the minutes from our January Meeting.

Fairview Elementary PTO
Meeting Minutes
January 14, 2026

Opening
Our second meeting for the 2025-2026 school year was called to order at 6:30pm in the Fairview Elementary Cafeteria and online via Google Meet
Present
Lindsay Cook, Board President
Sarah Pentz, Board Treasurer
Jacie Davison, Board Vice President
Kari Stoner, Board Vice President
Sherrie Carr, Board Secretary
Alaina Irvin, School Vice Principal
Taylson Green, School teacher
Alexandra Hoke, Speech teacher
Travis, Representative for Watch Dog Dads
Jamie Kayhoe, Via GoogleMeet
Agenda
Meeting began with Travis introducing himself and his reason for being in attendance.
Travis is with the organization Watch Dog Dads. Volunteer based group designed to get fathers/male role models involved in the school. Volunteers would come to the school on Wednesdays and assist with pick up and drop off students, do the morning
announcements, have lunch with their student, and spend time with other classes and teachers. Sign up online via SignUp Genius. Started this in West Virginia and at Mowrey. For questions or more info can email [email protected]
Jacie offered to take notes and prepare minutes.
Jacie agreed to design the flyer for Valentine grams to be emailed to Alaina and Megan for approval by 1/16 for distribution to students on 1/21.
Treasurer notes: Balances - PTO account: $26,144.26 and Library Account: $5,165.96.
Jacie has now been reimbursed for items purchased for Duck the Halls. Returned the ducks that did not arrive in time for distribution on 1/3 for $26.17. No reimbursement needed for ducks from Jeeps of PA jeep club. Duck the Halls grams generated $514 in
profit for PTO. Spent $204 for staff donuts and cookies during the holidays.
Principal Report: PTO waiting on a bussing bill. School is doing their budget with teachers coming up and should have that bill to PTO by the end of month. Sarah requested an estimate for upcoming bus bill as well. Lindsay asked if PTO has any outstanding bills, at the time of the meeting, answer to that is No. But Alaina will double
check to be sure.

Old Business: In 2026-2027 5th graders will be again attending Camp Penn not Camp Eder. PTO asks if there were any bills from this year that PTO needs to cover. At the beginning of this school year, at the parent meeting for Camp Penn, the PTO cost
assistance and fundraising to help cover funds was not discussed. PTO will work on making sure that this will be better addressed next year with 5th grade parents. Put messaging in Back 2 School packet. No date yet for next year’s trip. PTO requested possibly doing the trip in the spring as opposed to fall. Alaina said that for our district two of the elementary schools go in the fall and the other two go in the spring. So could be possible but not sure how that decision works. Tossed around ideas for fundraising
for Camp; including allowing students to use the spring of their 4th grade year to help. Which raised questions of what if the student leaves the school before the trip. Can PTO pay for trip upfront and use fundraising to be reimbursed? Do we really want parents to expect the PTO to cover that cost for all students every year?

Upcoming Business: Valentine Grams hoping to net at least 50 cents per gram with a low cost for families. For this year’s gram, ordering handmade wooden hearts to be added with a tootsie pop from local business Ember Crafts. This idea was brought to us
by Sherrie Carr who then reached out to discuss with the business. $300 for 350 hearts. Company will also provide the lollipops and will be given to us full assembled. PTO plans to order 400 hearts and will sell them at 2 grams for $3. Order forms and money
to be returned by 1/29 for PTO pickup on 1/30. Board will arrange to count grams, money and get all items organized and ready for distribution to classes on 2/6 for Class Valentine’s Day party.

Next Meeting: Instead of Dance-A-Thon, teachers have requested a Color Run for spring fundraiser. Board mentioned that to make this successful, staff participation and assistance will be necessary. Possible dates for event would be 5/8 or potentially adding it as part of Field Day to help with gaining parent volunteers.
Teacher Appreciation Week 5/4-5/8/26. If plan color run for 5/8 will this impact TAW festivities? Theme – possibly Toy Story. Does staff want Brisket again prepared by Clint Pentz? Board requested that Alaina and Megan let us know ASAP what they would like/prefer the Board to help with for that week and for confirmation of theme.
Upcoming 5th grade trip- no date yet or plan for what the activity will be. Board is willing to help with costs or shirts for the trip.
2026-2027 Board Nominations will occur at meeting on March 11th. Votes will be cast by sitting board members only at the meeting in April. Lindsay will be leaving the board as her student moves to middle school. Lindsay and Sarah considering Jacie to fill her role as President. Asking staff and board members for suggestions for who would be a good fit to join the board.

Meeting adjourned 7:04pm
