General Anthony Wayne

This Sheet Music was created in Victorian times in memory of General Anthony Wayne. The General was also known as "Mad Anthony" Wayne,. After a heroic military career, he became the namesake for Waynesboro, Virginia. The sheet music includes a rendering of an early-American fort named Fort Defiance, which was built under the direction of General Wayne in 1794. The log fort was located on the Maumee River in the Ohio territory. Built soon after the American Revolution, the fort was an important outpost and helped to secure peace on the western frontier during the Indian Wars. The Battle of the Fallen Timbers was Wayne's most notable victory during this tumultuous time.
