During National Water Quality Month, we’re celebrating the connection between healthy soils and clean water.

Conservation practices like cover crops, reduced tillage, irrigation water management, and nutrient management can help increase water infiltration, reduce runoff, and keep valuable soil on the land and out of nearby streams. When producers invest in soil health, they’re also investing in cleaner water and more resilient working lands.

Another 4-H Year has begun!

Which means Burke County 4-H is collecting aluminum pop-tabs! These Pop-Tabs help to support Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping provide a home away from home for families with children receiving medical care.

Save the tabs from your soda, soup, pet food, and other aluminum cans, then drop them off at the Burke County 4-H Office or with your 4-H homeroom teacher:
BES – 4th & 5th Grade
EBA – 4th–6th Grade
FCA – 4th–8th Grade
Homeschool 4-H'ers

Make sure Pop-Tabs are in sealed containers and labeled with school, grade, and homeroom teacher's name!

Every pop-tab counts, and together we can make a BIG differenceone tab at a time!

Join us on Saturday, November 21 for an unforgettable evening of music, dance, and entertainment as talented Georgia 4-H'ers from 4th–12th grade takes the stage right here in Burke County!

🚨 Support for small meat and poultry processing plants is here!

Secretary Rollins today launched the Small Processors Action Plan, a new set of actions designed to make it easier for these businesses to interact with USDA, get timely answers, and resolve issues, without weakening inspection or food safety standards.

Additionally, we've announced $60M in funding through the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program to expand American meat and poultry processing. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 7, 2026.
