Learn more about "Bringing Out the Best in Youth, in our Community and in Yourself" at our regular Club meetings with date and location to come as we “retool” when and where we meet. Optimist International is an association of adult and youth volunteers from around the world who conduct positive service projects in their communities. What Optimist Clubs Do? Optimist Clubs are serious about "Bringi
ng Out the Best in Kids" with community service programs and activities that provide a helping hand to youth. Every Optimist Club is unique because autonomy allows the members of each Club the flexibility to serve the youth of their community in any way they see fit. Optimist International officially sponsors four International Programs: the Childhood Cancer Campaign, Internet Safety, the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships (OIJGC) and the organization's scholarship contests. In addition, Optimist International also encourages involvement in several other community activities, such as: Respect for Law, Tri-Star Sports, Youth Appreciation Week, and other Youth Safety Programs. SOME ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS OF THE WAYNE OPTIMIST CLUB
Scholarship Contests
The Wayne Optimist Club works with area schools to encourage students to take part in these annual Optimist International Contests which award $2500 scholarships to the District Level winners. Celebrating the Arts
The premier project of the Wayne Optimist Club annually honors about 50 area students who excel in “the Arts” with a special arts related program often provided by Wayne State College faculty and students at the Celebrating the Arts and Achievement in Education Banquet each spring. We hope to bring this back in the future as we have not been able to do it for a few years. Tri-Star Sports
The Wayne Optimist Club will continue to offer boys and girls from the area a chance to compete in the Punt, Pass & Kick Contest this fall. As always local winners have an opportunity to compete for 1st-5th place trophies in Lincoln. Krafts 4 Kids
In early to mid-December the Wayne Optimist Club provides ideas and supplies for elementary age children to spend 2 hours making Christmas gifts and decorations. We are hoping to reimagine this project as it has become less popular to the point of it stopping but was once a big hit.
