You may not be where you want to be yet, but take a moment to look at how far you’ve come.

Every appointment attended.
Every difficult conversation.
Every step forward.
Every day you chose to keep going.

Progress isn’t always measured in giant leaps. Sometimes it’s found in the quiet determination to try again tomorrow.

Keep going. Your story is still being written.

On December 6th, 2023, Shelly Gill started her day like any other. She got herself and her son ready for a hospital appointment and noticed no warning signs that her life was about to change forever.

After returning to her car, Shelly blacked out — and woke up four weeks later in a neuro hospital.

She had suffered two ruptured brain aneurysms and a stroke. During her recovery, she had to relearn how to walk and talk, while also coping with the emotional and physical aftermath of surviving a traumatic brain injury. Doctors also discovered two additional unruptured aneurysms.

Through months of rehabilitation, determination, and strength, Shelly worked toward her goals of driving again and returning to work. Today, she continues to navigate invisible disabilities including memory loss and cognitive challenges — reminding us that survival stories often continue long after leaving the hospital.

Her honesty sheds light on an important reality: many survivors may “look fine” on the outside while carrying life-changing challenges that others cannot see. 🐝💛

Actress Emilia Clarke has once again opened up about surviving two near-fatal brain aneurysms — sharing that she once felt she had “cheated death” after her medical emergencies during the filming of Game of Thrones.

Emilia suffered two brain hemorrhages in 2011 and 2013, requiring multiple surgeries and a long recovery journey. Today, she continues using her platform to raise awareness about brain injury and recovery, reminding others they are not alone.

Her story is a powerful reminder that brain aneurysms can happen to anyone, at any age, often without warning. Awareness, research, and advocacy matter.

We are grateful for survivors like Emilia who continue to speak openly about their experiences and help shine a light on the realities of brain aneurysms and recovery.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage, service, and selflessness of those who gave their lives so others could live freely.

As we spend time with family and loved ones this weekend, we remember those who are no longer with us and hold their families close in our hearts.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Approximately 15% of people who suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm die before ever reaching the hospital.

Why? Because ruptures can happen suddenly and symptoms are often misunderstood or mistaken for migraines, dehydration, stress, or other conditions.

That’s why awareness and emergency response training matter so deeply. EMTs and first responders are often the very first line of defense. Recognizing the warning signs of a possible brain aneurysm rupture, can help patients get critical, life-saving care faster.

What started as a vacation down the shore changed Marybeth’s life in an instant.

“I bent down to put my sneakers on and woke up 3 days later in Neuro ICU at Cooper Camden.”

Marybeth had suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. During those lost days, she underwent emergency procedures including coiling and surgery.

After spending a week in the Neuro ICU, she began the long road to recovery—walking the halls with physical therapy and pushing forward one step at a time. Just 15 days into the 21-day protocol, she was able to return home before later undergoing additional outpatient procedures.
