BPA Week 2022 continues with a visit from the State Officer team to BPA!

Our own Brighton Snow teamed up with student and state Vice President Dillon Henry on this to talk to the Gordon Cooper students about the opportunities available in BPA like Torch Awards, competitions, and running for state office. We can't wait to see what success our neighbors to the east have this year in BPA!

Fun Fact: Gordon Cooper was an astronaut who famously had to reach out to his teammate on the ground when he was in orbit, because they lost communication with Mission Control. Together, and with the aid of only a grease pen and a wristwatch, Gordon Cooper calculated re-entry manually, and landed safely back on Earth.

How are you going to leverage your team resources to make amazing things happen through BPA?

One last post on today - our PM general business meeting!

Presided by Chief Technology Officer Andrew Ballard, the afternoon officers kept their members updated on current business. Then everyone helped finish the project and designed cards for the remaining and programs on campus.

Did you know that every general meeting you attend (up to five meetings) is worth points? Make sure to keep logging in and recording those points, and get the recognition you deserve!

What are you doing today to exemplify ?

Today, our chapter leadership team is running the January general business meeting, to continue working on our ongoing project discussions. The morning meeting was presided by Chief Technology Officer Harrison Benge, and a few officer positions were also announced.

Michael Ozment was promoted to Chief Operations Officer, and he was replaced as Vice President of Community Relations by Arleth Rocha. (pictured in the first photo, making a report on our Coat Drive progress)

But wait - it's a two-for one!

After the business portion of the meeting, everyone had the chance to display by creating appreciation cards for programs on our campus who participate in our sister groups - and . These will be delivered next month before Valentines Day.

Welcome to MATC BPA week, for "Mid-America Monday!"

We are highlighting today how much we love to work with our partner CTSOs on campus - SkillsUSA and HOSA. Cooperation is a core value of BPA, and is included as one of the seven torch categories.

We have been fortunate in the past to help with such activities as capturing photos and videos for competitions and officer campaigns for both organizations. We also really enjoyed getting to meet all of their members at the CTSO Day held on campus this fall.

MATC BPA members will have the chance at our meeting this Wednesday to create appreciation cards to show these organizations just how much we appreciate getting to work together. We are cheering for their success! So everyone come prepared on Wednesday with some great ideas to show them how much we appreciate them!

Do anything interesting over winter break? We made a film!

MATC BPA members Saul Ulloa and Kylen Grubbs, along with CMO Jerry Thompson worked on the set of "Prom Bandits" a new short film produced by our curriculum partners . They were supervised and instructed by Oklahoma Film Veterans like Stephen J Hanan, (Minari) (Killers of the Flower Moon) and , (Reagan) among many many others.

During this shoot, they learned how to make call sheets, call the roll, capture sound, and apply both traditional and special effects makeup. They can use these skills on future productions that come to Oklahoma to take advantage of the increased film tax rebates.

From all of us here at Mid-America BPA, we wish you and yours a restful and fulfilling holiday break.

We have been collecting a huge stockpile of photos from events this semester, but have just been too busy *doing* amazing things to *post* about them! At our December meeting this week, we formed a social media committee to help our Communications officers sort, edit, and write about our photos we have been gathering. So check back next semester to see all about what has been happening!
