Congratulations to Steven Deyarmond on his retirement after 30 years of service in the Wayland Area EMS system! Steve started as a medical first responder in Salem 30 years ago, got his EMT and Specialist license, and 15 years ago got his Paramedic license. He has been working 25 plus hours a week for Wayland Area EMS on top of his full-time job for many many years. We cannot thank Steve enough for his dedication and the countless hours that he has put in. He has made an impact on many lives, giving his all and coming back after even those very hard calls that make us wonder why we do this job. Thanks also to his wife Melody Deyarmond and kids Derrick DeYarmond and Celeste Deyarmond who shared Steve with us all these years! We are very proud of Steve for the time that he has dedicated to serving his community and wish him many blessings as he enjoys retirement!

As we are half way through EMS week and celebrating everything about this emergency service we are reminded it is NEVER about one service or one part of the group. It is ALWAYS about teamwork and all the components that make up emergency services. Tonight our thoughts and prayers go out to neighboring service of Life EMS Ambulance. We would also like to thank Dorr Township Fire Department, City of Wayland Fire Department, Martin Twp Fire & Rescue, Aero Med, along with Allegan County Sheriff's Office for their assist and a big shout out to Allegan County Central Dispatch for being the calm voice that keeps us all working as one unit.

This week we celebrate National EMS Week. The theme is "Improving Outcomes, Together". In our service we work as a team. We are thankful for our dispatchers, Allegan County Central Dispatch, Barry County Central Dispatch, police, Michigan State Police Allegan County Sheriff's Office and City of Wayland Police, and our Medical First Responders Leighton Township Fire Department, Martin Twp Fire & Rescue, Dorr Township Fire Department, Hopkins Area Fire Department, Salem Fire & Rescue, Orangeville Fire Fighters Association, City of Wayland Fire Department.
If you have a minute and feel led, please leave a thank you for our crew members that we can share with them. They are an amazing group of people, doing amazing work and I couldn't be more proud of them and of the work that they do!
