Wayland-Cohocton Youth Soccer Program Sweeps Alfred University Indoor Tournament!

The Wayland-Cohocton Youth Soccer Program delivered an unforgettable performance at the Alfred University Indoor Tournament, sweeping every division they entered. WC fielded four teams: Grade 3/4 Boys, Grade 3/4 Girls, Grade 5/6 Boys, and Grade 5/6 Girls, and each one rose to the challenge.

Battling through five games each, from both NY and PA, all four squads captured their respective championship titles. Even more impressive, every WC team went undefeated throughout the entire day, showcasing outstanding teamwork, determination, and skill from start to finish.

It was a remarkable achievement for the players, coaches, and families, and a proud moment for the entire Wayland-Cohocton soccer community.

WAY-CO’S BRENT OWENS NAMED TOP COACH

LCAA's FINEST
Congratulations to Way-Co head coach Brent Owens, who was honored by his fellow coaches as being named the LCAA Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.
Owens guided the Golden Eagles to an 11-6-1 record this season.
Signature victories this season included a 3-2 victory over Geneseo (Sept. 5); a 2-1 win over Livonia (Oct. 1), and a sweep over rival Dansville (4-0 and 3-2).
Way-Co also played Section V Class B champion Hornell to a 1-1 tie (Sept. 25).

We had an awesome group of 2nd–6th graders representing us in Dansville’s “Kick or Treat” Tournament, competing in the Grade 5/6 Division- bringing home the silver medal! 🥈⚽️

Interested in Attending Tryouts for the Fall Travel League?

Please log into your Blue Sombrero account and register your athlete under the grade level they will be entering this coming fall. Tryout registration is free.

If your athlete is unable to attend tryouts due to prior commitments but is still interested in participating this fall, please register them anyway and contact us if they are unable to make it.

Tryouts are strongly recommended. Thanks!

Boys 3rd/4th Grade:
- Tuesday, August 19th
- 5:30–7:00 PM
- Please arrive a little early for registration

Boys 5th/6th Grade:
- Tuesday, August 19th
- 7:00–8:00 PM
- Please arrive a little early for registration.

Tryouts will take place at the Wayland Campus Soccer Fields

Please Note:
The number of teams at each level is determined by the number of athletes who attend tryouts, the number of coaches, and the overall level of competition observed. Our goal is to create appropriate team placements that ensure a positive and challenging environment for all players.

Because of this, final team decisions - including the number of teams formed - will depend on what we see during tryouts.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to build a structure that supports both player development and competitive balance.

- Tuesday, August 5th
- 5:30–7:00 PM
- Please arrive a little early for registration
- We’re hoping to have enough numbers to form two teams at this level. If that happens, it would eliminate the need for cuts. We’ll keep you posted as registration continues.

Girls 5th/6th Grade:
We’re adding a tryout slot for girls entering 5th and 6th grade!
- Tuesday, August 5th
- 7:00–8:00 PM
- Please arrive a little early for registration.

***Team placement is not guaranteed, roster spots are limited and will be offered based on skill and attitude.***

***Boys 3rd/4th & 5th/6th Grade Update:
Coach Owens is currently out of town on vacation. We’ll share updates regarding those teams once he returns.
