The Georgia Recovers in Community bus tour held a policy stop in Douglas at Coffee Regional Medical Center and a few of our staff, board members, and Peer Advisory Committee were there to support the Georgia Council for Recovery
In their efforts to increase awareness and end stigma surrounding substance use disorders. Also, we joined our friends at Unison Behavioral Health, because we recover together!

Ken Taft serves as the chairperson of the OATH Recovery, Inc. Board of Directors. He seeks to transform empathy into action for those facing life's hardest battles. Guided by the belief that every individual deserves dignity and a safe place to call home, Ken also co-chairs the Waycross-Ware County Community Housing Initiative to actively expand affordable housing in our community. Having walked alongside loved ones struggling with substance use disorder, his goal is to ensure that anyone seeking recovery is met with the open arms, compassion, and structural support needed to truly thrive. He is a graduate and former chairperson of Leadership Waycross. Ken earned his juris doctorate from Mercer University in 2007 and utilizes his diverse legal practice—spanning personal injury, civil litigation, estate planning, and non-profit law—as an extension of his lifelong mission to protect, advocate for, and uplift others.

Two of our PAC (Peer Advisory Committee) members were able to attend the first ever CARES Connect hosted here in Waycross. We would like to thank Georgia Council for Recovery for hosting this event here in SEGA as well as our PAC members Sarah Mercer and Kelly Hudson for representing OATH Recovery, Inc. We truly appreciate everyone that shows up to support our community 💛💚

Sarah Mercer is a wife, mother, person in long-term recovery, and dedicated advocate for individuals and families affected by mental health and substance use challenges. As she approaches a decade of sobriety this December, her personal journey continues to fuel her passion for serving others. She became a Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) in 2019, earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Addiction earlier this year, and will begin pursuing her Master of Social Work degree in August. Sarah currently serves as a Co-Responder with the City of Waycross Police Department through Unison Behavioral Health, where she combines lived experience with professional expertise to advocate for hope, healing, and lasting recovery. Guided by her faith, she is committed to serving others with compassion, integrity, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to recover, grow, and live with purpose. Sarah serves as the chairperson of the Peer Advisory Committee.
