It's always a pleasure to bring our Farm Bureau family together!

We recently hosted the Ellis County Farm Bureau Annual Convention, bringing members together for an evening of fellowship and updates on the work of our organization.

A special thank you to State Director James Foster and his wife, Jennifer, for joining us, and to Billy Howe with Texas Farm Bureau for sharing how our organization continues to stand up for Texas farmers, ranchers and landowners.

We're thankful for our members and their continued dedication to keeping agriculture strong in Ellis County and across the Lone Star State!

. Today. And every day. Working early mornings and late nights to grow our food, fiber and fuel.

Each day, farmers and ranchers care for the land, animals, natural resources and their families. They have a desire to succeed. The drive to innovate. And a passion for growing things.

And farmers and ranchers are the beating heart of Texas agriculture and our future.

AgLead XVII put in the miles advocating for Texas agriculture!

The group started in Austin meeting with Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas Secretary of State Robert Howden and several elected officials.

Then, it was on to Washington, D.C., where they met with members of Congress and discussed the farm bill and challenges facing agriculture. They talked about high input costs, low commodity prices, New World screwworm, and pasture mealybug, among other issues.

The group was also in D.C. as the Senate Agriculture Committee advanced the farm bill to the full Senate for consideration.

The trip marked AgLead XVII’s third session and gave the group firsthand experience with state and federal policy while advocating for Texas agriculture.

Great work, AgLead XVII!

Did you know there were 14 Ellis County teachers who received free copies of I love Blueberries by Shannon Anderson.

Through the Texas Farm Bureau Ag Literacy Week Program, we helped to inspire students to learn more accurate information about agriculture AND connect it to what they’re learning in the classroom.

These K-5 teachers across the county joined us earlier this spring to increase agricultural literacy in the classroom by reading an educational, accurate ag book.

Thank you to our local teachers for helping us share agriculture with our young people.
