Darrell Russell Memorial Golf Tournament

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that was part of the Darrell Russell Memorial golf tournament last Thursday. This includes our presenting sponsor Billy, Kay and Steve Torrence owners of Capco Contractors and TR Racing, our associate sponsors, players, volunteers and everyone at Evergreen Point golf club for their help in having an outstanding day of golf and fun.

A special thank you goes to Cody & Cindy Draper who came all the way from Weatherford to help us and then had to turn around and drive back home that same day. That is true dedication in my book, and we are truly blessed to have them as friends and a big part of the Drag Racers Benevolent Fund. The Drapers have some things to share with all of us in the very near future concerning blood, stem cell, and bone marrow donations. Each one of us can save another persons life by helping and in most cases it is very simple to do. More to come on this subject.

Last week I sent out an email concerning parking for the golf tournament for Houston that had erroneous information. Please read: There will be no early parking for golfers. Get into the normal parking line as they will begin parking sportsman Wednesday @ noon. However, tech will be made available Wednesday afternoon to all the paid golfers entered into the tournament. Jim Anderson has donated his time again to accommodate us. If you have any questions concerning parking or tech, please email me asap. [email protected]

Good Morning,

This is the final week to sign up for the Darrell Russell Memorial Golf Tournament. The absolute deadline is Friday April 19, 2013. We can only accept the first 144 paid players and we are approaching that number fast.

Please, if you are doing a Top Fuel sponsor and need signs, we will need all, the sponsor information by Wednesday April 17, 2013 in order to accommodate the sign maker.

Darrell Russell represented the passion, camaraderie and competitive spirit that are the heart and soul of NHRA drag racing. Never were these qualities more apparent than in Darrell's seventeen years as a Sportsman Racer & Top Fuel Driver. While his death in 2004 was sudden he amassed many accolades along the way. He was the 2001 Rookie Of The Year and at the time was only the third driver to win in his Professional debut.

Good morning to all,

The Darrell Russell Memorial Golf Tournament is very near. In roughly 38 days, April 25, 2013 we will have the second annual tournament to be hold Thursday prior to the O'Rielly Nationals held at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas.

The tournament will have a shotgun start at 12 noon and is a four player scramble type format. There is no required experience necessary and is open to anyone involved with NHRA racing including, drivers, crew members, sponsors and friends thereof.

For the racers that will be playing in the golf tournament, there will be early tech provided by NHRA and Jim Anderson our D4 Tech Director.

Please see the attached entry form and get it in before it is too late. Remember. we can only take the first 144 players.

Having a team is not important, each individual can be placed on teams that do not have a full team or other single entry players.

There are still a few sponsorship opportunities left including golf ball, towel, closest to the pins, etc. Please look the entry form over for any thing that you may can help with. Most of all come out and enjoy the day with fellow racers, sponsors and friends of NHRA.

Circus Motorsports is proudly announcing the 2nd Annual Darrell Russell Memorial Golf Tournament presented by CAPCO PIPELINE CONTRACTORS & TORRENCE RACING and will be held prior to the O'reilly Nationals in Baytown, Tx. at Evergreen Point Golf Club just a short drive from Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, TX. The tournament is open to all racers, crew members, NHRA and sponsors.
Darrell Russell represented the passion, camaraderie and competitive spirit that are the heart and soul of NHRA drag racing. All proceeds after expenses will be donated in Darrell Russell's name to charities within NHRA and racers/members in need.
On Thursday April 25, 2013 at 12Noon the tournament will begin promptly with a shotgun start. Check in will begin at 10:00 am at the clubhouse. We are also trying to secure a charter bus to transport golfers to and from the race track. The course is located just 10 minutes away from Royal Purple Raceway at 1530 Evergreen Road in Baytown, Texas 77523. At the conclusion of the tournament there will be an awards dinner with trophies presented. The event is a relaxed four player scramble type format which gives everyone a chance to play and have fun. This outing is planned to encourage fellowship in our sport and to create new friendships.
Evergreen Point Golf Club is a beautiful, well maintained facility with all the latest innovations, including PGA Professionals, large club house, full service food bar, and a well stocked pro shop. On the course during play we will have two fully stocked beverage carts to meet our needs. After check-in, you will have complimentary access to the driving range and putting green.
At this time, we have several sponsorship opportunities available; including, but not limited to (2) long drive, (2) closest to the pin 1st and 2nd shot, (2) longest putts, beverage cart sponsorships, chartered bus sponsorship, etc. Please contact Tammy Lauria, myself or Gregg Odom for additional information regarding sponsorship pricing or any ideas you may have to make your experience better.
