Today’s Rotary program featured Dr. Jennifer Smolka with Ellis County United Special Olympics. Dr. Smolka shared the incredible impact Special Olympics has on athletes and their families, creating opportunities for inclusion, confidence, and community connections.

We were especially excited to learn about the partnership between Ellis County United Special Olympics and the Rotary Flag Program. Through this collaboration, athletes have the opportunity to work alongside community members, serve with families, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to a visible community project while helping support travel and competition opportunities.

Thank you, Dr. Smolka, for sharing your passion and for all that you do to promote inclusion in action throughout Ellis County. We are proud to partner with an organization that makes such a positive difference in the lives of so many.

🌟 Rotary Fact of the Day 🌟

Did you know that astronaut Neil Armstrong was a Rotarian?

Before making history as the first person to walk on the moon, Armstrong was also dedicated to service above self as a member of the Rotary Club of Wapakoneta.

Rotary members come from all walks of life—business leaders, educators, community volunteers, innovators, and even astronauts—united by a common goal of making a difference in their communities and around the world.

Service knows no boundaries, whether on Earth or beyond! 🚀🌎

Today, the Rotary Club of Waxahachie had the privilege of hearing from Lee Coleman with WISD Alternative Learning. Lee shared information about the important work being done to support students and help them overcome challenges on their educational journey.

One of the highlights of the presentation was a touching testimonial video from a student whose life was positively impacted through the program. It was a powerful reminder that with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities, students can achieve success and reach their full potential.

Thank you, Lee, for sharing your time, your passion, and the inspiring stories that demonstrate the difference WISD Alternative Learning is making in our community.

A big thank you to our Rotary meeting speakers Jen Graf and Elias Carreon for the great update on all the wonderful things happening at the Sims Library. It’s exciting to hear about the programs and progress at the library, and we’re especially proud to recognize that the Sims Library has earned the National Medal for Museum and Library Service—such an outstanding achievement for our community.

We appreciate you both taking the time to share and inspire us with what’s ahead for the library!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness have secured the freedoms we enjoy every day. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we reflect on the true meaning of this holiday and pay tribute to those who gave everything for our country.

The Rotary Club of Waxahachie extends our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and their families. May we never forget their service, sacrifice, and legacy.

🇺🇸 Come out and join us at Carry The Load! 🇺🇸

The community is gathering today to honor and remember our nation’s heroes. Thank you to our first responders and volunteers who helped create this incredible display of patriotism, featuring a giant American flag suspended between two fire trucks.

Come show your support, connect with your neighbors, and help carry the load for those who have served and sacrificed.

Another busy and meaningful meeting for the Rotary Club of Waxahachie! We were proud to present a $4,200 donation from our Dog Stroll fundraiser to Flying B Animal Rescue, induct new member Ken Jenkins into our Rotary family, and hear an inspiring presentation from Young Life about the impact they are making in the lives of local youth.

We also received a very special thank you from our Adopt a Class students for the Rotary Club’s support throughout the school year. Their creativity and kind words remind us why community service matters so much. Service Above Self in action!
