Waverly, Iowa Lions Club

Waverly, Iowa Lions Club Lions Club is a volunteer organization of civic minded men and women who are committed to service.

You Can Make A Difference

As a member of the Lions Club, you
become aware of the needs of our
community and have the advantage to
effectively make a difference. Our club
provides volunteers with project
management assistance, leadership
training, personal development
opportunities and organized fundraising
programs. Being a Lion empowers you
to help others in a way that no one
person could alone.

As part of an international organization
we support the numerous programs with
sight and hearing conservation, disaster
relief, youth exchange, educational
programs, and the Lions charitable branches,
which are the Lions Club International
Foundation and the Iowa Lions Foundation.

Members Mike Stevens, Dave Wylam, Steve Schreen and Allison members Tom Heckman, Warren Hegen, and Jeff spent a couple of days building the ramp.
The ramp was financed by the support of people who attend our fundraisers. Thank you very much.

Last night Garrett Riordon, of Waverly Leisure Services, gave us an update on the Memorial Park project. They are projecting that the pool will be completed this summer and then they will move on to the next stages.
This is an exciting upgrade to our facilities and make for a beautiful park experience.

Tonight's program was Tyler Homeister, sergeant at the Waverly Police Dept. He talked about the Annual Citizen's Academy.
It is a nine-week course where people can learn about all of the aspects of being in the department. This includes things like dispatch, the jail, gun safety and a 3hr ride-along.
They have openings for 12 participants each year.
