Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a Community Wrapped in Compassion

The holiday season is a joyful one! From our Board room to local family homes, we extend grace and goodwill. For some of our neighbors, holiday expectations carry financial and emotional stress. For this reason the School District 145 Foundation for Education extends an invitation to you to become part of the Holiday Wishes program. Our system anonymously matches School District 145 families in need with School District 145 families who can help. Find the 2025 form and more information on our website at https://dist145ffe.org/grants-programs/holiday-wishes.html .

A special thank-you goes to Heartland Optical, our 2025 program sponsor!

Our mission is centered on students, and that’s why their voices matter at every level of our work, including our Board of Directors. Meet our 2025-26 student interns : Anna Johnson, Jared Schroeder, and Poppy Doele!

We are proud to include student interns on our public charity education Board. Their insight keeps our conversations grounded in the real, day-to-day experiences of School District 145 students. They help us understand what supports are most needed, what opportunities matter most, and how our decisions will directly affect the young people we serve. Student participation isn’t symbolic, it’s essential. When students sit at the table, our work becomes more meaningful.

Equally important is age diversity across our Board. A strong nonprofit benefits from a wide range of perspectives — students, early-career professionals, parents, educators, and retirees. When multiple generations collaborate, we gain a broader understanding of community needs, strengthen long-term planning, and blend fresh ideas with seasoned experience. This balance helps ensure that our Foundation remains deeply connected to the people it serves.

Check out this Waverly High School Art Club highlight!

As part of our Fall 2025 Classroom Grant cycle, the Awards & Grants Committee gifted $2,000 to the WHS Art Program to support the purchase of a new kiln — an important investment in building the creative growth of our students. We love seeing students actively pitch in to support a grant request. The Art Club stepped up and served our community during Friday night’s football playoff win against Bennington — and they did an incredible job.

A portion of the funds they earned will support a Waverly High School Scholarship, awarded to a graduating senior who has actively contributed to the Art Club during their time at WHS.

It was inspiring to see so many dedicated and successful students on campus Friday evening. Go Vikes!

Wow! That was quite the night in concessions and stadium cleanup! Thanks to Logan, Anna, Kolbee, Trey, Tessa, Lyla, Makenzie, Payton, Payton, Jaden, Lauren, Greyson, TJ, Jacob, Audrina, Ellie, Justin, Leyton, Earl, and all of the adults that jumped in to help when they saw us drowning. That’s what makes Waverly great❤️

Shout out to Lindsey, Jess, Angela, Keri, and janitorial staff Ryan and Marti! And a huge thank you to my mom for making a hot dog bun run! We couldn’t have done this without each and everyone of you!

Thanks so much for volunteering and helping art club and now here’s to a new kiln (with support from the FFE!!!!) and senior scholarship money!!!$$$$$

Today at Waverly Middle School, our hearts are full. 🇺🇸

Our students and staff came together for a powerful Veterans Day program that has become a treasured tradition in our community. The Waverly Middle School band performance set the tone for a morning of reflection, gratitude, and pride. 🎶

Beautiful choir voices filled the room with emotion and respect. Their song was a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served our country, and a reminder of the hope and gratitude carried by the next generation. 🎵

As the Foundation for Education, we are incredibly proud of our school, our students, and our community. The same spirit of dedication and excellence we see in our military is alive in our classrooms, our hallways, and on that stage today.

To all who have served and continue to serve our country : we honor you, we thank you, and we are committed to helping build the kind of education that reflects your courage and commitment.

We are proud of School District 145. We are proud of our veterans. We are proud of our students. We are proud to serve this community. ❤️🤍💙
