FYI. The outside bathrooms at the community center have been winterized and locked for the season. Bathrooms inside the building when it is open are only for use of the building renters and are not open to the public. So please plan ahead when visiting the park. Thank you.

Last night we wrapped up the 2025 sand volleyball season and it was a warm, exciting evening. Both the Gold and Silver division championship games had to go to a playoff and I don't remember if that has ever happened before. When the dust settled, Gritty Maniacs won the Gold division and Anita Bump won the Silver division.

Thank you to all who played this season and we look forward to seeing everyone next year.

We wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for coming out to the Jr Vikes BBQ Competition and WCF Street Dance on August 2 and also for supporting our raffle fund raiser. We had a good turn out and look forward to doing it all again next year.

We also want to recognize our raffle winners. Emily Goodman won the cooler full of alcohol and DesiRae Ratkovec won the pallet of beer. Congratulations ladies. Enjoy your prizes and let us know if you need any help consuming it. 😉

We are already making plans for next year to have a bigger and better event. See you on August 1, 2026!

Remember to get signed up for this great event happing Saturday to raise money for the new Waverly Dag Park.

Registrations are coming in, but we still have plenty of room for YOU! Sign up today…or anytime between now and Saturday, August 9. We will have same day registration available. There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the race. And if you just want to come out and watch, we welcome that, too.
Two great runs:
• 5K run on a combination of city streets, park trail, and open field at the north end of Lawson Park – which happens to be where the new dog park will be! Starts at 8 am
• 1 mile-ish run with your dog on the Lawson Park trail. Starts at 9 am. Dogs must be leashed and near their running partner – no extendable leashes – to avoid trips and falls. Your dog must be known to be non-aggressive around people and dogs and should be vaccinated.

Today is the day! Bbq Competition from 4 to 8, street dance from 9 to ?? and your last chance to buy tickets for the raffle. Here is the cooler prize. 34 bottles of various alcohol plus the 52qt rolling cooler or $1000 worth of beer (your choice). Tickets are still available at the community center. Stop by and say hi and buy a ticket or two!!

Large well used tent for sale. It was used by the Waverly Jaycee's for years and has been in storage. It has been put up in the park next to the Waverly Community Center for our fund raising events this coming weekend, but we do not plan to keep it. It is for sale for a reasonable donation to the Waverly Community Foundation. It needs to be taken down on Sunday, August 3. Stop by the community center to check it out if you are interested.

We are 1 week away from our Friday Night Kick off party at the Waverly Community Center. We have a very talented artist lined up to entertain you, grilled food will be available for purchse as well as ice cold beverages. This is a free event to attent and we hope to fill the yard with friendly faces!

Then Saturday is the big day. Jr Vikes 5th Annual BBQ Competition from 4 to 8. Tickets will be available at the gate or contact a.football player to get your ticketa and enjoy some amazing BBQ. There are also raffles and silent auction items to support our young athletes.

Following the BBQ will be the WCF Street Dance from 9 to ? featuring The Dillon Gaige Band. The dance is free to attend and beverages will be available for purchase. We will also be giving away our raffle prizes. So get your tickets today and plan to come spend the weekend with us.

Just a reminder that we still have raffle tickets available. 2 grand prizes are available and will be given away at the street dance on August 2. One is a pallet of beer of your choice up to $1000 value and the other is an Rtic 52qt rolling cooler filled with a variety of alcohol. Pictured is the cooler we gave away last year as well as a pallet of beer. Neither is the exact prize as we are still assembling the final prize. Only 500 tickets will be sold. They are $20 each.
