Waverly Animal Shelter

Waverly Animal Shelter Welcome to the Waverly Animal Shelter page. We are employed by the City of Waverly Animal Control.

Animal Control for the City of Waverly, Tennessee ๐Ÿพ
Helping keep our community safe by managing stray animals, responding to animal concerns, reuniting lost pets with their owners, and supporting animals on their way to adoption. We respond to calls of animals in danger, roaming strays, lost and found animals, abandoned and owner surrendered pets. We partner with The Humphrey's County Humane Soc

iety and our local veterinary offices, to offer these unwanted animals a second chance at life. We work together, to help abused, abandoned, homeless, lost and unwanted animals get the medical attention, food, shelter, water, love and attention they so much deserve. Together with the help of our community and volunteers we are dedicated to finding as many homes as possible for these animals. Humphrey's County Humane Society also offers programs to help offset the costs of spaying and neutering your pet for those, who otherwise, may not be able to afford the full cost. Pet overpopulation is a serious problem, please do your part, be a responsible pet owner, spay and neuter, together we can fight pet overpopulation and save lives.

๐ŸŽ‰ Weโ€™re proud to share that Humphreys County Humane Society has been recognized by Best Friends as a No-Kill Shelter!

We know there has been some confusion in the community, and some people may still believe we are a kill shelter. Weโ€™re here to remind you: we are not a kill shelter. โค๏ธ

Being no-kill means saving at least 90% of cats and dogs and working hard to find every healthy or treatable pet a safe outcome. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team, volunteers, fosters, adopters, donors, and community partners.

As of July 31, 2025, HCHS achieved no-kill status by exceeding a 90% save rate for cats and dogs.

Help us continue this life-saving work:
๐Ÿพ Adopt
๐Ÿก Foster
โœ‚๏ธ Spay & neuter
๐Ÿ”Ž Microchip your pets
๐Ÿ’š Donate or volunteer

Thank you for helping us save lives, clear up misinformation, and build a kinder community!!!

Love cats? Want to make a real difference in your community?

The Waverly Animal Shelter and Humphreys County Humane Society are looking for caring, dependable volunteers to join our cat team. This program helps local cats get the care, transportation, and support they need while they wait for their forever homes.

There are several ways to help, including fostering cats, transporting cats to the PetSmart location in Bellevue, coordinating volunteer schedules, and joining an on-call rotation for occasional cat pickups from PetSmart.

Even a little time can help change a catโ€™s life. Our program helps facilitate an average of one adoption per day, and that success depends on people in our community stepping up to help.

If you have a heart for animals and want to be part of something meaningful, we would love to hear from you.

To learn more or express interest in joining the volunteer cat team, please call 931-296-7319.
