A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and participated in today’s Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies. Your support helped make this a meaningful day of remembrance for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

A special thank you to the Waverly Fire Department for hosting the bicycle, wagon, and stroller decorating contest and helping make the day such a success.

Thank you to the Waverly Band for their outstanding performance and patriotic spirit throughout the parade.

We also extend our appreciation to the Waverly Police Department for their assistance and support in helping keep the event safe for everyone.

Finally, thank you to all veterans, families, volunteers, and community members who came together to honor our fallen heroes.

🇺🇸 Join Us This Memorial Day in Waverly 🇺🇸
The Waverly Fire Department will be hosting a Bicycle/Wagon/Stroller Decorating Contest before the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25!
🏆 $25 prizes will be awarded in 5 categories: • Most Patriotic
• Oldest Participant
• Youngest Participant
• Best Overall Bike
• Best Overall Wagon/Stroller
📍 Judging begins at 9:30 AM beside the Pike County Courthouse
🚲 All contestants are invited to ride in the parade, which begins at 10:00 AM.
Following the parade, the American Legion Post 142 Honor Guard will pay tribute to our fallen veterans with solemn Memorial Day ceremonies including: 🇺🇸 Color Guard Presentations
🇺🇸 21-Gun Salute
🇺🇸 Playing of Taps

From American Legion Post 142,

What we witnessed wasn’t just the opening of a trail. It was the coming together of a community, built on shared stories, pride, and a commitment to something bigger than ourselves. This project represents connection between generations, between neighbors, and between the past and the future.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Western Pike Local Schools for their partnership and for believing in the value of bringing learning and community together in such a meaningful way.

A very special thank you to Mrs. Buckler for allowing us to be part of this journey. Your leadership, trust, and dedication made a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside you in this effort.

To everyone who supported, encouraged, and took part in making the Western Storybook Trail possible, thank you. Your commitment to this community is what made this project so special.
