God Had Another Plan
An expectant mother, Sarah, reached out to LCFS, scared and overwhelmed. She shared her experience from a prior pregnancy several years ago, where she was pressured to pursue an abortion. Sarah said the experience was traumatizing and she never wanted to go through that again.
For this pregnancy, Sarah sought to explore adoption. We assured her that she would be treated with respect, and the birth parent counselor would never pressure her into anything.
Recognizing the emotional complexities involved, we referred Sarah to a licensed therapist on our team who specializes in working with women who are considering adoption. This therapeutic support was instrumental in helping Sarah process her emotions and build confidence in her choices.
Sarah selected a caring and loving adoptive couple from our agency and they developed a positive relationship, which continues to this day. She said she was happy to be able to help them become parents.
When the court hearing was done, and Sarah had legally ended her relationship with her child, LCFS continued to walk alongside her through ongoing therapy work. Adoption does not end when the court papers are signed. Sarah continued working with her therapist for an extended period of time, which enabled her to meet her treatment goals.
Sarah expressed gratitude for LCFS walking with her every step of the way. She reported feeling respected and was comforted knowing her child would grow up in the home of a loving Christian family. Sarah was grateful she chose adoption as a life-affirming option for her child.
