We were so excited to share Girl Scouts at Riverview last week, and honored to be presented with this community character award!
The Riverview Character Education Committee presents February’s Community Character Award to Girl and Scouts for leadership! Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes – Troop 2164 and Cub Scout Pack 3650 are encouraged to develop leadership skills through various activities and experiences. Here are some ways they demonstrate leadership:
- Leading Meetings: All Scouts often take turns leading meetings, where they organize. activities, facilitate discussions, and ensure everyone’s participation.
- Planning Events: All Scouts plan events such as dances, community service projects, or fundraisers.
- Completing Badges: All Scouts earn badges in different areas, such as environmentalism, STEM, or entrepreneurship. These badges require Scouts to set goals, plan their activities, and follow through with their plans.
- Community Service: All Scouts engage in various community service projects, identifying needs, planning initiatives, and taking action to make a positive impact in their communities.
- Teamwork: All Scouts often work in teams to accomplish tasks or projects. They learn to collaborate, communicate, and support each other to achieve common goals.
- Mentoring: Older Scouts often mentor younger members, providing guidance, support, and encouragement. This helps develop their leadership skills while fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy.
- Problem Solving: All Scouts encounter various challenges during their activities, and they learn to think critically, analyze situations, and devise creative solutions.
- Role Modeling: By embodying the values of Scouts and demonstrating leadership qualities in their actions, older Scouts serve as role models for younger members, inspiring them to become leaders themselves.
Through these experiences, Scouts develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility, laying a foundation for leadership both within the organization and in their future endeavors.
