Mary Kunasch is a Community Leader

Mary Kunasch visited the Wautoma Kiwanis meeting and discussed the Easter egg hunt and other activities in the community. Mary was responsible for bringing back the Easter egg hunt to Wautoma after many years with the help of the City and Kiwanis. With her dedication, our area enjoys such activities as FreedomFest, Augustfest and Harvestfest. Mary is also the director of the Senior Center where you can participate in pickleball, bingo, cards, pool, Silver Sneakers and aerobics for about $1, as well as daily lunches. Pictured with Mary is Jennifer Pulvermacher, Kiwanis Vice President. Visitors are welcome to check out Wautoma Kiwanis at our Thursday 7:00 am meetings at Stahl's Celebration Center.

True Harvest Bourbon Co. Visits Wautoma Kiwanis

Becky and Jennifer Popek attended the Wautoma Kiwanis meeting and explained some of what goes into making a good bourbon. The Popek sisters grew up on their family farm near Wild Rose and plan to preserve the farm by growing the grains necessary to make bourbon. Corn, rye, barley and wheat can all be used to distill spirits but bourbon must contain at least 50% corn to be called bourbon. Their goal is to showcase Waushara County agriculture and to use only Waushara County grain in their bourbon. They are currently serving cocktails and mocktails at their store in Wild Rose Thursday through Sundays and you can find their hours and special events on their website. Pictured are Becky Popek, Jennifer Popek and Jennifer Pulvermacher, Kiwanis Vice President. You are invited to attend a Kiwanis meeting at Stahl's Celebration Center on Thursday mornings at 7 am.

It took less than a minute and just like that 2400+ eggs were gone, a truly fun time had by all. What a great time at the Wautoma’s Easter egg hunt.

Though the weather put us inside it still was a fantastic event that lifted everyone's spirits. Mary Kunasch did an outstanding job putting this together. And Wautoma Kiwanis was proud to help out at the event, making a real difference.

Kiwanis 'n Cops 'n Kids

On March 24th, Mrs. Schmitt’s second grade class at Riverview School welcomed Officer Ryan Behlke of the Wautoma police department and Kiwanis member Sue Cody. Officer Behlke read aloud two books to the students and then each child chose a new book to keep as their own. It was part of the Kiwanis initiative: Kiwanis ‘n Cops ‘n Kids. This national program aims to connect community members with students while promoting the importance of reading. Mrs. Schmitt’s class is the fourth class at Riverview to participate in the program so far.
