🐾❤️ WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY AT HOPS & HOUNDS!! ❤️🐾

What a day!! Beautiful weather, wonderful people, adorable dogs, and some seriously DELICIOUS goodies! 🥰

We had such a great time today and raised approximately $350 (more being determined soon in pre-ordered baked goods) through our bake sale, T-shirt sales, and adorable earrings mafecby Liv! Every dollar goes right back into helping the dogs of Deacon's Hope Rescue! ❤️

Now, can we talk about those baked goodies?! 🤤

A HUGE thank you to our amazing volunteer Lisa, who donated all those absolutely delicious homemade treats, T-shirts, and other goodies for today's event! Let me tell you... those baked goods were SO GOOD!! Lisa, your generosity, time, and talent mean more than you know! ❤️

A special thank you to Liv for donating the most ADORABLE earrings! Seriously, how cute were those?! 🥹❤️

And Jessica... where do I even begin?! Thank you for helping with EVERYTHING! Your support, willingness to jump in wherever needed, and dedication to this rescue mean the world to me. I'm so incredibly grateful to have you in our corner! ❤️

It was also wonderful seeing so many familiar faces and meeting lots of new friends!

We especially enjoyed meeting the great people from Fulton County Humane Society! They had some of the SWEETEST pups there today! And yes... we may have snuck in a few doggo cuddles. The Wood County Dog Shelter was also there with some awfully cute dogs too! 🤭🐶❤️

One of the things I love most about events like this is getting to connect with people who share our love for animals. Today brought some especially meaningful conversations, kind words, and new connections that truly touched my heart. 🥹

To everyone who stopped by, purchased something, donated, shared a kind word, or simply came over to say hello... THANK YOU!

And to our volunteers who give so freely of their time, talents, and hearts... you are what makes all of this possible... appreciate you so much!!

After 21 years, days like today remind me all over again why I started Deacon's Hope Rescue all those years ago... ❤️

Great people. Great memories. And all for the love of dogs. 🐾

With gratitude,
Deacon's Hope Rescue ❤️

🐾❤️ $5 FRIDAY — CAN'T JOIN US THIS WEEKEND? YOU CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ❤️🐾

We've got a BIG weekend ahead at Deacon's Hope Rescue, with two wonderful fundraising events happening tonight and tomorrow!

We're incredibly grateful for everyone coming out to support us. But we also know that many of our amazing supporters can't make it in person.

That's where $5 Friday comes in! ❤️

You don't have to attend an event, buy a ticket, or even leave your couch to help us save lives! 🐶

Just FIVE DOLLARS can make a difference when we all come together.

🐾 50 friends donating $5 = $250

🐾 100 friends donating $5 = $500

🐾 200 friends donating $5 = $1,000!

With veterinary expenses, medications, food, and everyday rescue costs continuing to pile up, every single donation helps us keep doing what we've done for over 20 years — giving dogs in need a second chance.

And right now, we could REALLY use a little extra love from our village. ❤️

💛 Can't attend but want to help?

🐕❤️ SATURDAY — COME SEE DEACON’S HOPE RESCUE AT HOPS & HOUNDS! ❤️🐕

Our busy rescue weekend continues Saturday, and we would LOVE to see some familiar faces!

📅 Saturday, October 10
⏰ 12:00–4:00 PM
📍 Lucas County Fairgrounds — Green Barn

We’ll be set up at Hops & Hounds Pet Fair, surrounded by rescue organizations, pet lovers, vendors and plenty of people who love animals just as much as we do. 🐾

Stop by the Deacon’s Hope Rescue booth, say hello, learn more about our rescue, talk fostering and adoption with us, grab some information, or just come tell us which DHR dog stole your heart. ❤️

We’ll also have easy ways to donate for anyone who wants to help us continue providing veterinary care, food, supplies and everything else our dogs need.

After everything this little rescue has had going on lately, we are SO excited to get out into the community, talk about what we love most — the dogs — and spend the afternoon with all of you.

We will also have some goodies that have been donated for purchase!

💛 STILL NEED YOU SATURDAY 💛

I need to be very honest tonight...

Yesterday’s donations were incredibly low, and if that becomes our new normal, Deacon’s Hope Rescue simply cannot continue taking dogs at the rate they need us.

That isn’t meant to scare anyone or make anyone feel guilty. It’s just the math of rescue.

Donations are what allow us to say YES.

Yes, we can take the dog sitting in a shelter.

Yes, we can help the puppy someone no longer wants.

Yes, we can take that litter someone dumped

Yes, we can take the scared German Shepherd who needs somewhere safe to land.

Yes, we can get them vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, treated for parasites, fed, transported and cared for until the right family comes along.

Our fosters give these dogs their homes, their time and their hearts.

But we still have to provide the money to care for them.

When donations slow down, everything slows down with them. And eventually, we have to start saying no .. not because we don't care, but because taking a dog without the funds to properly care for that dog isn't rescue. We've had to say no a lot lately. 😢

We don't need a handful of people giving hundreds of dollars.

We need a whole lot of people giving $5, $10 or $20!

If everyone who follows this page assumed someone else would donate, there would be no Deacon’s Hope.

If you've ever watched one of our dogs come in scared, sick, neglected or unwanted and then watched that same dog leave with a family of their own… you helped make that possible. When we needed you... you were there.

And we desperately need your help to keep doing it. 🐾

Please, if you can spare even $5 today, help us keep saying YES.

Thank you for believing in what we've been doing for more than 20 years. We want to keep doing it. We just can't do it without you. ❤️🐾

🚨🐾 $5 FRIDAY — WE REALLY NEED OUR VILLAGE TODAY 🐾🚨

This is one of those Fridays when we truly need to ask for help.

Deacon’s Hope Rescue has had several large expenses hit at once, and our funds have taken a serious hit. At the same time, the dogs in our care still need everything they always do ... vetting, medications, preventatives, food, supplies and all the everyday expenses that keep rescue moving.

So today we’re asking our amazing village for something small:

💛 Can you spare just $5?

We have more than 33,000 followers here. If even a small percentage of you tossed $5 into the rescue pot today, it would make an incredible difference!

Can’t donate today? Please share this post. Every share helps put us in front of someone new who may be able to help.

🐾 Five dollars may seem small, but when our village comes together, those $5 donations keep dogs safe, cared for and moving toward their forever homes.

We really need you today. 💛

🏡 HAPPY ADOPTION DAY TRUVY/KEVIN! 🐾❤️

Sometimes an adoption photo looks a little different ... and we think this one is pretty darn perfect!! 😊 💕 🐾

Our sweet Truvy has officially joined the Coutcher family, where she has some pretty awesome four-legged siblings waiting to show her the ropes!

From the moment we learned more about this family, we knew this was the kind of home we hoped to find for her. She is loved, welcomed, and exactly where she belongs! ❤️
And apparently Truvy has also received a brand-new name.

Everyone, meet… KEVIN. 😂

Nope. We’re not asking questions. We’re just going with it. 🤣

Happy Adoption Day, Kevin! We hope you and your new crew have the most wonderful life together. ❤️🐾

A huge thank you to the Coutcher family for opening their home and hearts to one of our babies. And, as always, thank you to everyone who fostered, donated, shared, transported, and helped get her to this moment! 🫶

Happy tails, Kevin! 🐾❤️
